So what is the most common form of mental illness in the United States that affects some 40 million people 18 or older? Anxiety disorder is the most common mental illness. It’s hard to escape anxiety; is it not? Just look at some of the stuff we face:
- I go to the dentist and they stick several devices in my mouth and half a hand and then begin asking me questions. I try to grunt an answer “uh-uh-uh-uh” and my mouth fills with slobber and they suck it out with a plastic vacuum and it sticks to my lip and nearly pulls it out.
- My lower back is killing me and I have some urinary problems and go to the doctor. He examines me and says my prostate gland is enlarged and it’s either cancer or an infection. Now I have to go get more tests; (I hope he leaves the latex gloves at home next time).
- He prescribes a pain medication and asks if I’m allergic to anything. I say codeine and its derivatives. He prescribes a medication with a small amount of codeine in it. I itched all night.
- I was incredibly busy this week and didn’t feel good and yet got up very early each day to write Words for the Day. I got several hate filled letters calling me arrogant, narrow minded, and a self-righteous hypocrite.
- I researched what my response should be and the Bible told me to turn the other cheek. Can’t wait to “moon” those jerks and turn both “cheeks” and tell them what they can do with them.
- Obama has declared he will not negotiate or even discuss issues with the Republicans and will instead allow the government to shut down because it will not be capable of paying its bills unless we borrow more money on top of the $16.7 trillion we already owe. He says this while “negotiating” with KGB Colonel Vladimir Putin and mass murderer Hitler wannabe Bashar al Assad who are leading him around like a puppy in order that he can be bailed out of his boisterous “don’t cross the red line” comment. I suppose Iran will be next with their nuclear bomb negotiations and their empty red line threat.
- Officials from the Christian Service Center, (CSC) of Lake City Florida, an organization that has been feeding the poor and needy for 31 years were told by the state agriculture department that in order to continue to receive food from the USDA they would have to remove portraits of Christ and the 10 Commandments. (Instead of complying with the ruling, the group has decided to simply drop the USDA’s help and trust God for His provision.) Man our government is really helping out all those hungry folks with that one huh? I bet that makes the ACLU and their atheist donors happy as clams.
- Fox Sports fired college football analyst Craig James last Monday after a video from 2012 surfaced in which he said he opposed homosexual civil unions. He didn’t say this on Fox but during a debate while running for office. His offensive statement: “We should not give benefits to those civil unions . . . It should not occur. We have to stay strong on this. This is important . . . We have a fiscal issue in this country but we also have a moral issue, and as Christians, we need to stand up.” No more free speech in this country I tell you.
- In comments sure to enhance his progressive reputation, Pope Francis has written a long, open letter to the founder of La Republica newspaper, Eugenio Scalfari, stating that non-believers would be forgiven by God if they followed their consciences thus assuring atheists: You Don’t Have To Believe In God To Go To Heaven; all one has to do is follow their conscience. Huh? What about the blood of Christ?
- ObamaCare is already ruining our country right before our eyes and turning American workers into a part time work force.
- Not one person has been arrested (or hit by a drone) in retaliation for the attack on our embassy in Benghazi where 4 Americans (including our ambassador) were murdered. Further not one person who was responsible for the poor security and denial of help during the attack (that the Ambassador had literally begged for) has been fired and/or lost one day’s pay.
- The same holds true for the IRS that openly targeted conservative groups such as the Tea Party that were opposed to Obama
- The same for those responsible for the program that resulted in one of our brave U.S. DEA agents being murdered by drug cartel members with guns sold to them by our own drug enforcement officers.
- I doubt anyone will be written up for allowing the deranged man who just this week entered a top secret Navy installation with a couple of guns and murdered over a dozen folks either. Who checked his credentials? TSA?
- More residents, (228), have been killed so far this year in Chicago than the number of U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan, (144) over the same period; while some 2,000 U.S. troops have been killed in Afghanistan since 2001, more than 5,000 people have been killed by gun fire in Chicago during that same time period.Thirteen more people were shot this week including a 3-year-old child when a gunman opened fire on a group of people at a basketball court in a park on Chicago’s southwest side. It’s black on black violence so no Zimmerman, no public outcry, no Jesse Jackson, no Al Sharpton; no prez, no media.
I could go on but you get the picture. It’s downright stressful eh?
A handful of pills and a room full of shrinks can’t help with what ails this country. I saw an interesting photo array the other day. On the left it showed a child being denied the opportunity to read a Bible at school; on the right it showed a man in his jail cell reading one. Get that picture? Makes one wonder if that scene shouldn’t be
reversed . . .
We need to put the Ten Commandments back up, reinstate prayer in schools, repeal Roe vs. Wade, define marriage as being between a man and woman, leave God in the pledge of Allegiance, leave “In God we trust” on our money, and put God back in the oval office.
Most all of the above could be accomplished if moral people would just vote their conscience instead of a social agenda and encourage others to do so. Our country is mentally ill all right . . . It would have to be in order to allow these Godless bums to ruin this great country.
Yes God is in control, but we have free wills and exercising them as of late has not been our finest moment as a nation . . . Okay . . . I admit that I’m angry today, but it is not just because I itched like crazy all night. Nonetheless I know that God states in His Bible that my anger doesn’t achieve the righteousness of the Lord . . . The word of God, (the Holy Bible) needs to be read and then followed.
So to all of my fellow mentally ill anxiety laden colleagues, I urge you to join me in not being angry and reading the Bible and then doing something with it.
Have a great weekend free from stress, anger and anxiety and go to church this Sunday, hear the word of God, and then allow the sweet Spirit of Jesus to comfort us and then get out there and vote or maybe even run for office.
