It should not surprise anyone that we are under attack from demonic oppressors, after all we are in war and not in heaven. There is no need to fear war, we have the most powerful army in all of creation, the Army of God! We just need to understand how the war is being fought and trust in our Supreme General.
Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering . . . 1 Peter 5:8
Satanic attack is ongoing and the primary weapon of choice for our demonic oppressors is deception. The Strategy of Satan in our battle is the deceit of mankind, (or to put it plainly lies).
He attacks through “schemes” or “wiles.” The word “schemes” means “cunning arts, deceit, craftiness, trickery in a planned way.” Call it what you may, but it all boils back down to his primary method of attack is carefully planned deceit and strategic lies.
Satan puts into our minds the garbage that tends to ruin men’s souls and Jesus has harsh words for those who refuse to believe in Him and deny the power of the blood of Christ:
“You are of your Father, the devil, and you will do the desires of your Father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, you do not believe.” – John 8:44
Obviously Satan is a liar, and all his temptations are carried out by his calling evil good, and good evil, and promising freedom in sin. Just look at the gains he is making in the United States. The politicians lie, the media lies, those who are getting filthy rich through corruption lie; our country is overrun with liars and we are suffering because of it.
Make no mistake he attacks human beings through lies in order to deceive us into believing something false about God and to deny the truth of the revealed will of God as to the salvation of men by Jesus Christ.
The special lusts of the devil are spiritual wickedness, the lusts of the mind, and corrupt reasonings, pride and envy, wrath and malice, hostility toward good, and enticing others to evil. He lies about who God is, what God is like, what we are like, what God desires for us to do, how to be saved.
Jesus has compassion and wants to demonstrate mercy upon us. “Therefore the LORD is waiting to show you mercy, and is rising up to show you compassion.” – Isaiah 30:18
We should not be surprised if our lives are hard however, especially for those who love Jesus. In fact, it is a given that we will come under attack. Jesus knew this and strangely, (at least to me), He didn’t ask the Father to take us out of this world, rather to protect us.
I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. — John 17:15
He forgives and welcomes us with open arms as the prodigal son parable exemplifies.
“So he got up and went to his father. But while the son was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him.” – Luke 15:20
We are at war, and we battle lies and liars. How do we combat them? We believe the truth and not the lies.
Psalm 145:9
“The LORD is good to everyone; His compassion rests on all He has made.”
