All of us have been given talent. We are to use that talent to further the cause of Christ. I was with a very wealthy friend of mine recently who uses his money to further the cause of Christ. I know of numerous projects in which he is using his enormous wealth to fund various projects that help to lead people to Christ. He is reaching hundreds of people for Christ without personally witnessing to anyone. (Something he states to me that he is not good at.) He believes that his talent is making and raising money and he does so for the glory of God.
What is your talent? Perhaps the Lord has not blessed you with money but you have a beautiful voice that could be used in the choir. Or maybe you enjoy meeting people and can do so with ease. Your calling might be visitation with a church, or greeting those who come to church as an usher. Perhaps you have an intellect that is above average. Maybe you can teach. Maybe you are not quick minded, but you can cook. What about cooking for the poor? Everyone can read, perhaps you can read to someone who cannot read, or teach someone to read. The point is we all have talents that could be used to help others if we choose to make it a priority.
Everyone has something to offer to those around them. There is one important point for all of us to remember. We will not take any material possession with us when we die. The house, the car, the boat, the plane, the swimming pool, the jewelry, the Armani suits, the spring outfit, the cash, the stock, the bonds, the important title and position at work, the highway named after us will all be left behind and soon forgotten by those who remain. However, every good deed and work for the Lord will be taken with us and will be recognized by God in heaven for eternity. Not only that, but the Bible states that while we are still here on this earth, more will be given to those who use their talents for the Lord while still in this life. It makes it very plain to see where our focus should be.
Matt. 25:29
For to everyone who has, more will be given,
and he will have abundance;
but from who does not have,
even what he has will be taken away.
And cast the unprofitable servant
into the outer darkness.
There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
