Today I go in for pre-op for round two of my second major back surgery scheduled for Monday. So many people have written that I’m very encouraged and humbled. Thank you all! Now I’m prayed up and trusting in God to deliver me through this valley and I look forward to emerging and rising to the sunny peak on the other side of this darkness.
I will not quit and as one of my readers recently wrote: Nulla Tenaci Est Via En Via . . . For the Tenacious, No Road is Impossible”. Right on!
One of my dearest friends, Jerry Kirk, has been in prayer ministry, (40 day Prayer Covenant) for fifty years and written many books on the subject. He won some awards with his latest book a prayer covenant for children. I gave one to my grandkids and they loved it (which to me, and I’m sure Jerry), is more important reward than the awards..
A vital part of his ministry is to encourage folks to make a covenant with someone and pray for each other for forty days. Jerry and I agreed to pray for each other in just that fashion, (every day for 40 days). In our case it has long since gone over 40 days. We often talk by phone and always pray for one another at the end.
The last time we spoke he told me of a new beginning to his prayers that honor the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God tells us that He is comprised of three distinct individuals who have specific and different responsibilities and yet mysteriously He is ONE, (just as He wants His bride the church to be ONE).
I was a little groggy from pain medication when I wrote this down, but the best I remember the intro goes like this: “Gracious FATHER in the name of JESUS our Savior and in the power of the HOLY SPIRIT . . . ” Following that he begins his prayer, “Please be with Bob as he undergoes surgery Monday and put a wall of protection around him that no evil can penetrate”.
Why not incorporate this prayer intro into your prayers for a while and see if you like it. I like it!
God bless you today and have a great weekend and go to Honey Lake Church, (or somewhere) on Sunday. This is our second Sunday service and our special guest speaker is Stephen Schreiber. Steve was one of the pilots that was scheduled to fly one of the jets that crashed on 9/11. At the last minute he got bumped by a pilot of greater seniority and his life was spared. You won’t want to miss hearing how this has affected him and his life.
The verse below states that God rejoices over us with songs. Imagine how beautiful it must be to hear a song sung by God. Wow! I wonder if it’s a trio??? Sunday it is our turn to rejoice over Him with some glorious music and joyful songs from our praise team and congregation. I have not been able to attend church in several Sundays, but I’m going to attempt to make this one, Lord willing, I’ll see you Sunday!
Zephaniah 3:17
For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty Savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
