I hope everyone had wonderful holiday break like we did. We had a house full of relatives including my son and his wife who brought our twin granddaughters. I got to spend some much needed quality time together with them and enjoyed every minute of it. They’re growing up fast and it is wonderful being around them while I can.
Friday morning around 4:00 a.m. I was finishing up recording Words for the Day for my radio show and the listen feature for Words for the Day. Unbeknownst to me one of the twins had come downstairs and was lying on the couch in the dark listening to me record it.
She was as quiet as a spider walking across a floor and I finished the recording and then left the house to go deer hunting without ever knowing she was there. When I returned from my hunt later that morning my wife told me that my little granddaughter had told them that “Papaw was talking to his computer about Jesus”.
Ha, Ha, Ha!
The twins go to Wesleyan Christian School in Atlanta which is one of the premiere Christian schools in the country. It reminds me more of a college campus and my son tells me that so far every member of the faculty that he’s met loves the Lord with all of their heart.
These kids are getting a quality education that one can only dream about and it really shows. They recounted to me that one of the girls came home one day and said her little friend had been mean to her and told her that she didn’t like her turtle neck sweater. My daughter in law laughingly quipped, “Well how about tomorrow you tell her that you don’t particularly like her monkey face!”
The little twin patiently looked at her mother and said, “MOM! That’s not the Wesleyan way!”
Ha, Ha, Ha!
When I heard that story I was one very proud papaw I tell you.
Our God is omnipresent and was watching my little granddaughter ignore our fleshly desire to strike back and instead take the “Love All – Serve All Royal Road. I can envision the huge smile on God’s face as He viewed this lovely little angel responding in the same manner as Jesus would respond.
I was thinking that God was also right there watching me that morning as I “talked to my computer about Jesus”. I imagine that made him proud of me too. The Bible tells us that He loves us, (His children), in similar fashion to how we love our children, (only more).
Hmmm . . . It’s kind of weird to think that unbeknownst to me God came downstairs this morning and walked across the floor as quiet as a spider and right now is lying on the couch in the dark watching and listening to everything I do on His behalf with a big smile on His face.
I want my day to go according to the “Wesleyan way” today and every day. How about you?
Selah . . .
1 John 3:2
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
