Yesterday I was successful in getting Reverend Samuel Rodriguez the leader of the largest Hispanic Christian evangelical organization in the world, NHCLC, to commit to fully supporting and encouraging his huge organization’s membership to join The Jesus Alliance.
We prayed together about it in his office in California and I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit in the room as we sealed the deal.
Today I’m in Los Angeles and meeting with another leader of a different organization and I’m praying that the same results will be forthcoming.
Our organization is led by business people who are determined to bring about a Great Awakening in the United States and around the world. We simply want to obey and emulate Jesus with our lives. Jesus prayed, preached the Gospel, discipled His followers, and was a shining light to the world in lovingly helping the poor, sick, and downtrodden. We want to do the same.
We realize that Christians all over this planet are working towards that end; however most are working within their own independent silos. God wants us to unite and collaborate together to achieve His goals and we are trying to facilitate that end. The Jesus Alliance was formed to facilitate all Christians in joining together to serve Jesus however we can.
It doesn’t cost anything to join and takes less than a minute to sign up. No one will bother you, but if you want to join together to pray and enhance your Christian walk, the opportunity is there. It is our hope that through our sheer numbers that leaders in the government, education, media, arts & entertainment, business, family, and religion spheres of our culture will take note and understand that we should be heard loud and clear and that our issues are important too.
Wow, one would think everyone would just sign up.
Nope – It is difficult because Christians are divisive; this I believe is due to satanic influence. Satan understands we cannot accomplish nearly as much alone as together thus he whispers his divisive agenda in our ears. We are divided because of theology, politics, race, egos & logos, and protection of donors. These are all big obstacles.
I recently lost a good friendship due to a difference in opinion of the definition of the church. I believe in the biblical definition in that the church is defined by the Bible as the “body of believers in Jesus Christ” with Him at its head. All denominations, (and even those believers who have been born again but don’t attend an organized place of worship), are members of God’s church. My former buddy believes the church to be the various organized churches and denominations scattered around. He rejected my definition and me as a friend and has refused to even speak to me since that day in spite of my numerous attempts to reconcile.
Sigh . . .
Another friend did not want me to meet with a certain religious leader because he was too political and he was on the “wrong side”; this in spite of the fact that the leader both publically and privately states the exact same biblical belief in Jesus Christ as I believe.
Another African American pastor I know is hung up on race. He simply cannot envision a scenario of being joined together with white folks. There is simply too much water that has gone under the bridge for him to change.
And I have ministry leader friends whose egos are bigger than Texas and their ministry is about them, and they don’t want anyone or anything to detract from their ministry or them.
Finally all of these ministries are scrambling for money and they seem paranoid and are afraid that by joining together with others it might somehow dilute their contributions.
Hmmm . . . Where is God in all of this?
I suspect He is sadly shaking His head. He wants us to love each other and be as one as He is one with the Holy Spirit and Jesus. John 17:21 I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one – as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.
That means that “we” is not “me”!
In heaven the things that divide us will be absent. The fine points in theology and doctrine, politics, race, egos & logos, and money will no longer be a factor.
Guess what? God wants His kingdom to begin right here – right now! All those things should not be a factor on planet earth! We need to put aside our differences and follow Christ. What are the four things Jesus did with his life?
- Prayed
- Preached the Gospel
- Discipled His followers
- He loved everyone and proved it through His works
He changed the world by doing those four things. We can change the world by following His lead and worshipping Him in the way that HE has ordained. He is united – We need to be united. Join The Jesus Alliance today! www.Thejesusalliance.org
Jer 32:39
And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants.
