Unless you’re one of those people that never watch the news you know that a certain Ted Cruz of Texas recently delivered a marathon record-breaking speech/filibuster on the United States Senate floor in an effort to defund ObamaCare.

Many liberal Democrats, pundits, media, and even a few “professional” lifelong coward politicians in his own Republican party decried his actions and labeled it a political stunt or similar derisive term. As for me I applaud him and say it’s about time that some of our politicians did what they said they would do if and when they got elected.

Lying has become acceptable in our society. We see it in the media, we see it in board rooms, television advertising, Wall Street, and even the pulpits in America, but nowhere is it more evident than in politics; (they like to call it “spin” –  that sounds so much nicer than lie).

It’s so-o-o-o-o refreshing to see someone on the national stage like Senator Cruz stand up for what they believe in and boldly proclaim the truth. He knows that ObamaCare is nothing more than socialized medicine and that it is already severely hurting our struggling economy by turning our workforce into a part-time economy, increasing the cost of our policies, and destroying the best health care system available anywhere in the world. Cruz doesn’t pussyfoot around with some false Senate etiquette smiling a plastic smile and shaking hands and “going along in order to get along”; instead he speaks the truth unashamedly and boldly regardless of personal consequence.

The prez and his henchmen go around saying that our healthcare will not cost a penny more. In fact they say: “We will save money”.

Huh?

We will be providing free insurance to 31 million additional people, and cover any and all pre-existing conditions that anyone might have anywhere in the country, and other assorted goodies and this will SAVE MONEY???

That lie is so preposterous that it defies any and all logic. It is so ridiculous that it’s insulting to anyone who has even half a brain. It is nothing but an outright damnable lie; the President knows it, his administration knows it, the media knows it, the public knows it and even the unions that got him elected know it and are railing about it, but the lies continue to be told and the brainwashing endures.

Countless jellyfish politicians who are devoid of backbones go along with whatever is rammed down their throats, preferring to focus on their shady backroom deals, their parties and functions, their limos, private jets, high salaries and perks, which include allowing them to keep their own insurance plan while the rest of us are forced into socialized medicine.

Even the biased liberal media is questioning why the Congress, White House, Supreme Court, and certain big businesses and friends of the administration are being granted exemptions and being allowed to remain on their current healthcare plans while the rest of us have to accept the socialized plan.

Ah, but I digress. The purpose of this column today is to decry lying.

Recently I discovered that someone whom I thought to be a friend engaged in telling some whoppers too. He did it in the interest of making a few extra bucks. In the end it will cost him more than he ever hoped to glean, and not just in greenbacks, but the loss of a good friend and all respect that I might have had for him.

My father didn’t teach me an inordinate amount of lessons in life, but he did teach me that one’s word is more important than anything we possess. I taught that concept to my own sons and I hope they teach it to their sons and daughters.

Just to be clear, in the Bible Jesus labeled satan as the “Father of all lies”.

John 8:44 – For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Today’s society has become politically correct and free speech and truth are rapidly becoming a thing of the past. If you don’t believe that see what happens if someone on the national stage speaks out for Jesus, or against an African American leader regardless of what they might have done, or works in Hollywood and says that homosexuality is a sin. Hell hath no fury as compared to what will happen to them on the national stage.

There are those that rail and whine against this column and label me as being a fundamentalist right wing nut and bigot and an unkind one at that, but the Bible states that we should call things the way they really are and not sugar coat it; “Let your yes be a yes and your no a no”. Personally I wish more people would grow some courage and stand up for what is right and say so publically . . .

I’ve often wondered why our politicians have allowed the Ten Commandments to be banned from public display. After all it just instructs us to do things like to honor our parents, and not to steal, murder, covet, and lie . . .

Oh . . . now I get it. Duhhh . . .

Exodus 20:16

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
