This morning I read an interesting piece about someone who was very sick and deeply concerned about what’s on the other side of death and asked his doctor about it.
Very quietly, the doctor said, “I don’t know.”
“You don’t know? You’re a Christian man, and don’t know what’s on the other side?”
The doctor was holding the handle of the door and on the other side he heard a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said, “Did you notice my dog? He’s never been in this room before. He didn’t know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.
I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing . . . I know my Master is there and that is enough.”
Okay if you are whining, whimpering, moaning, bitching, crying, (and possible scratching) this fine morning, sit back and relax. Our Master is on the other side eagerly anticipating our arrival.
Today is very special. Over 2000 years ago on this day Jesus Christ suffered terribly on a cross for you and me and just look where He is now.
Oh that’s right you can’t actually see where He is right now to check it out ahead of time. That’s okay; all we really need to know is that our Master is there. Don’t know ‘bout you, but that’s plenty good for this old flea bitten hound.
On Easter Sunday Christ triumphantly rose from the grave. He defeated death once and for all. He told us not to worry while He goes and prepares a place for us. He said He would send the Holy Spirit to comfort us and that He would be with us forever and that nothing can separate us from His love. Romans 8:39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below – indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Matthew Henry wrote: “If God justifies, that answers all. By Christ we are thus secured. By the merit of His death He paid our debt . . . Divine justice was satisfied. We have such a Friend at the right hand of God; all power is given to Him. He is there, making intercession . . .
Then do not toss your spirit and perplex your thoughts in fruitless, endless doubting, but just as you are convinced of ungodliness, believe on Him who justifies the ungodly. You are condemned, yet Christ is dead and risen. Flee to Him. God revealed his love in giving his own Son for us; can we think that anything should now turn aside or do away that love? Troubles neither cause nor show any reduction of His love. Whatever believers may be separated from; enough remains. None can take Christ from the believer: none can take the believer from Him; and that is enough. All other menaces signify nothing . . .
But the soul that is in Christ, when other things are pulled away, clings to Christ, and these separations pain us not. Yes, when death comes, that breaks all other ties even that of the soul and body, it carries the believer’s soul into the nearest wedding with its beloved Lord Jesus, and the full enjoyment of him forever.”
He suffered for our sins – He died – He is risen!
Have a great Easter weekend and for heaven’s sake go to Honey Lake Church (or somewhere) this beautiful fabulous Sunday!
Romans 8:34, 39
Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died – more than that, who was raised to life – is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
No power in the sky above or in the earth below – indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
