2013

This will be a very busy weekend. Saturday morning I’ve been asked to briefly speak to the “Surrendered and Free Women’s Spiritual Retreat” that is being conducted at Honey Lake. Then I will meet with Chuck Wechsler, publisher of world acclaimed, prestigious Sporting Classics magazine. Mr. Wechsler is coming all of the way from his home in South Carolina to personally present Honey Lake Plantation Resort and Spa with his magazine’s highly esteemed award naming our resort as their choice for 2013 Hunting Lodge of the Year. (Considering there are thousands of hunting lodges around the world that they could have chosen instead of Honey Lake that is absolutely flabbergasting to me.)

After the awards ceremony, I will pick up a buddy of mine and travel to Celebration Baptist Church in Tallahassee Florida where I will serve as the featured speaker to an estimated 400 men for the 4th annual “Manly Man Event” that includes a wild game sportsmen feast, booths, and men’s fellowship.

We cannot stuff ourselves silly however, because we leave there to go have dinner later that evening with some tremendous friends that live in Tallahassee. Then on Sunday I accompany the Sporting Classics crew on a quail hunt in the morning, have lunch with them at our Honey Lake Sunday Brunch, and then later that evening head up just outside of Thomasville Georgia where I will join some great friends of mine from my old Sunday school class and I will be speaking to some inmates at their Thomas County Prison ministry event on Sunday night.

Then I leave to go to the Bill Glass Champions for Life prison ministry event in Huntsville Texas where I will visit inmates on death row as well as serve as a platform speaker in the yards of several prisons to thousands of men.

Whew! Ain’t retirement grand???

Lately I’ve been getting all kinds of advice to slow down. My good friend “Murf the Surf” wrote me yesterday and told me he was concerned about me because I seemed stressed out in my writings lately. He told me to slow down and “take time to smell the ‘quail’ at Honey Lake”.

I suppose I’ve been pushing it a little, (or maybe a lot), but there is so much to do and so little time in which to do it. I sometimes view my life as being like that meteor that was filmed streaking by a Russian city the other day. For sure it crashed and burned, but it created quite a stir and covered some ground before it did.

When I start getting down I think of the Apostle Paul and all of the stuff that he went through, (shipwrecks, prison, beatings, walking all over the country, preaching, exhorting, and meticulously writing 2/3rds of the Bible with pen and ink on parchment (primarily in dimly lit prison cells).

The Apostle Paul liked to go streaking too!

I would love to stir the world into revival before it crashes and burns. Our guys and gals on the Honey Lake Church and Worldwide Ministry fundraising board are still trying to raise the funds that we need to buy the equipment that is necessary to stream God’s word all over the world to evangelize lost people.

Believe me people are hungry to hear the word of God and learn of His hope, peace, joy, and love that is only available through Him. I receive letters from all over this country (and the world) just from writing Words for the Day and through my book distribution, (which is now going into its second printing). Just yesterday I got a letter from a pastor in Kenya that is reading Words for the Day on our website and is hungry for more of this message of hope for his countrymen. I’ve received letters from Hong Kong, Algeria, India, and Ethiopia just in the past few weeks.

Just imagine what would happen if we could get the “spoken” word via Internet streaming to all of these people…

Maybe you’d like to be a part of it, but can’t afford the time or energy to go streaking through the sky burning like a meteor. Maybe you could help in another way, as in making a contribution. Make no mistake God will open His floodgates and bless you, but so will our church!

My good friend and talented Tallahassee artist William Lamb recently rendered a limited edition pen and ink sketch of Honey Lake Church which he donated to us to use as we see fit. It’s not an elaborate four color production; it is simple and elegant like God’s little Church that overlooks gorgeous Honey Lake.

You can have one of these signed and framed prints by simply making a $300 or more contribution to Honey Lake Church and Worldwide Ministry – 1290 NW Honey Lake Road – Greenville FL 32331.

Rest assured every penny will be used to send God’s word streaking throughout the globe and every time you look at that beautiful print you can smile and know that you were a part of something much bigger than you can imagine. Be prepared to meet someone in heaven who heard the word through this ministry in part because of your generosity. I’m sure they will each want to shake your hand with a hearty smile and thank you for what you did in an effort to reach them, (even though you never got a chance to see them or meet them in your lifetime).

Demonstrate your love in true agape fashion and help lead a horde of lost souls to the Lord where they can be saved and assured of eternal life in heaven.

Sound good?

Of course it does; how could it not?

Com’on let’s go streaking together!

Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday!

John 4:35

You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest.
