Several years ago a group of employees banded together and embezzled about a million dollars in current assets from our company over a six month period. It very nearly bankrupt us and it took seven LONG years to recover. Those were some of the toughest years of my life and I dreaded going to work each day, because it was filled with angry calls from creditors wanting to be paid and there was no money to pay them. It was a bleak time of fighting as hard as I could just to survive.
While this was happening I could not for the life of me understand why God was punishing me especially for so many years. Now I see clearly that this was the best thing that could have happened to me from a business perspective and also spiritually. The hard lessons are the best lessons in life. Before the fall I was careless with money and I felt when it came to owning a company that bigger was better. After the fall I became very careful with money, (I had to be), and I realized that bigger is sometimes better, but profitable is ALWAYS good, especially when the profit was in cash.
This bad experience better prepared me for my next adventure in business and I was a far better CEO than I’d ever been before. In fact I often refer to that period of tribulation as the era when I got my PHD, and I have often called upon those hard lessons even today.
It affected me spiritually as well and bolstered my faith. In the end I learned to have unswerving faith in God, especially in times of tribulation. The Bible states in Romans 8:28: “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” That came true for me. After I paid the price and my tribulation was lifted, I enjoyed blessings as never before.
If Obama gets re-elected today, I believe our country is in for some terrible tribulation and it will be a “Day of Reckoning” for our country that will affect us for years to come. I believe that there will be punishment to this nation for his anti-Christ policies, particularly his strong promotion of abortion.
Some 53 million babies have been aborted since Roe vs. Wade and though the Bible does not depict them as being under the alter of God petitioning that God avenge them, I can easily envision it happening though, indeed I can see it happening even as I write these words.
Maybe you disagree, but the cries of martyrs are heard before the alter of God in Revelation 6 and this scene in heaven is depicted as follows: “When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of all who had been martyred for the word of God and for being faithful in their testimony. They shouted to the Lord and said, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you judge the people who belong to this world and avenge our blood for what they have done to us?”
Can you hear the screams of all of those innocent babies asking God to avenge their blood? I can hear those screams and I believe with all of my heart that God hears them too. Our nation stands by as the slaughter continues and does nothing.
Throughout the Bible nations have been punished for their sins against God and His laws of decency, including those who sacrificed their babies to the idol Molech. They would heat up idols with fire until red hot and then place their children on them as a sacrifice. Those civilizations have been wiped off the face of the earth in part for their sins against their children.
What will happen to us?
If enough prayers are offered and hard-working Christians will get out the vote today for Romney, then maybe we can turn the tide before more liberal Supreme Court Justices are appointed by Obama that will further solidify his anti-Christian policies. If not we can count on more abortions, more homosexual promotion, more pro Muslim anti-Christ activity, more of the same on his socialist/communist economic agenda including ObamaCare and other policies that are ruining our country, and of course more degradation of our military and decline in our standing throughout the world.
In short our country will be punished for our sins. Perhaps these hard lessons are what are needed in a country that is turning its back on the Lord and everything good and wholesome. Maybe if we have a full scale depression, anarchy in the streets, and an attack on US soil, the country will finally awake and turn to God.
Perhaps we can avert disaster. If you haven’t already done so, VOTE for Romney today. Encourage others to do likewise. Pray for our country and that people will turn out in large numbers to reverse the dark direction our country is rapidly heading.
Do all you can do and then rest in the Lord and have faith that things will turn out good for those who love the Lord.
And if it isn’t enough and Obama gets back in, hunker down, it isn’t going to be pretty. I’ve thought of this scenario often and it reminds me of the situation that many inmates find themselves when they enter the prison system. They commit crimes and are punished and by being incarcerated, (regardless of how some may portray it), their situation becomes stark and bleak when they go behind those walls. Make no mistake about it life is brutal, cruel, and dangerous in prison. Those are the consequences of having committed crimes.
It is the same for sin in our lives and those committed by our nation at large. There are consequences to sin and those consequences can be brutal.
Many prisoners get so far down from their bleak circumstance and terrible tribulation that they have nowhere else to look for help but up. Only then are they willing to reach out for the Lord’s salvation, and that is the situation today with prison yards having become fertile fields for reaping a vast harvest of lost souls.
Similarly rarely does an alcoholic, drug addict, or pornography addict seek help until they reach rock bottom. Maybe that is what is needed in this country. In order to stimulate a revival maybe we need to sink to a level of despair and fear where we have nowhere else to turn other than God. Maybe then revival will come to large numbers in this country.
Let’s pray that our nation doesn’t have to sink to those levels and morality will begin anew in this once great country beginning Wednesday morning. Whatever happens continue to fight the good fight and accept what is obviously God’s will in the matter. Remember our struggles are for but a while and then we will enjoy eternity in paradise. Rest if you must but don’t you quit…Our struggles are small compared to what we have to look forward to…
1 Tim. 6:12
Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.
