A couple of days ago the Yes/No vote was conducted on our dry county and it passed in convincing fashion. Both sides had been railing about the subject for months and then came the vote.

People of honest convictions, pro and con, spoke out and established their opinions, and so did the hypocrites. Yesterday someone sent me a photo of one of the leading advocates of the vote No “movement”, and he was…you guessed it…swigging alcohol. It is a classic case of “do as I say do, not as I do do

Personally I think these self-righteous blowhards do more to harm the kingdom of God than any other force. This guy goes down to his local church and all over the streets of the community acting as pious as the Pope, and rants about the evils of drinking, and then stops by the bootlegger on the way home.

I wonder who he thinks he’s fooling…Certainly not his neighbors and definitely not God.

It is disheartening to hear people tell me they don’t go to church anymore because they are sick of all of the hypocrites. I wish hypocrites would represent the other side instead of claiming to represent Jesus. More people would be in the pews next Sunday; that is for certain!

I was recently interviewed by a classic hypocrite on a radio station. I’ve seen that condescending look so many times in my life I could spot it a mile away. If they registered hypocrites like they do dogs, one could get papers and a pedigree ten pages long on this mongrel. He had a little sneer on his face for the entire time he drilled into my past during the interview. Not so long ago I would have just knocked that smirk right off his face, but instead I simply answered his questions and let him think whatever he wanted to think.

That little goody two shoes may not have ever smoked a cigarette, got drunk, or beat anyone up, but just the same he has sinned in his life and that sin has condemned him. The Bible states that we have ALL sinned; we are ALL guilty; and we are ALL deserving of spiritual death. Without the blood of Christ that guy is no better off than anyone else.

I petition all Christians not to Lord their self-righteousness over some non-Christian who realizes that he or she is a sinner and wants forgiveness and hope.  All of the pseudo goodness of every single hypocrite in the peacock pen is just excrement in the eyes of the Lord.  (All our righteousness is like filthy rags”.)

If you are a Christian, remember you are not better than anyone else; you are merely forgiven through the wonderful loving grace of God. We have one thing to boast about and that is Christ.

Matt.23:27

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness.”
