Hank Williams Jr and ESPN have parted ways. Old Hank says he quit the network issuing the statement: ”After reading hundreds of e-mails, I have made MY decision,” Williams said in a statement to The Associated Press. ”By pulling my opening Oct 3rd, You (ESPN) stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment Freedom of Speech, so therefore Me, My Song, and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It’s been a great run.”

ESPN says he was fired; either way he will no longer kick off the Monday night football games with his songs as he has done since 1989.

The problem was that Hank made the analogy on Fox and Friends that Obama playing golf with House leader Boehner was like Hitler playing golf with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. When asked to clarify he said that Obama and Biden were “the enemy”. Anchor Gretchen Carlson later said to him, ”You used the name of one of the most hated people in all of the world to describe, I think, the president.” Williams replied, ”Well, that is true. But I’m telling you like it is.” ESPN promptly pulled his song as punishment and ignited the controversy.

Something really funny just happened, in fact I laughed out loud. I had just read about this fiasco when I opened my Bible and read the following out of Proverbs 29:2 “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” Do you think Old Hank was groaning when he dared to criticize our illustrious prez….

Oh boy, now I’ve done it. I hope they don’t pull all of my sponsors and shut down my WFTD website for writing that little nugget. Maybe Hank and I can get a joint lawyer from the ACLU to defend us.

I have much to rant about on this free speech/ridiculously politically correct envoironment in this country subject, but after skipping down the page and reading Proverbs 29:20 Do you see a man who speaks in haste? There is more hope for a fool than for him. I will keep my peace. In fact I’ll go ahead and shut up now because I cannot think of a single nice thing I can say this morning and will resume my Bible study.

Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday.

Proverbs 30:5

Every word of God is pure. He is a shield to those who put their trust in him…
