Not long ago one of our employees had a medical laser treatment on his face to treat a skin condition. The treatment almost immediately turned his face crimson red and then it scabbed over, making him look like he’d slid down the road face-first.
Of course I couldn’t resist poking a little fun at him and even went to the trouble of giving him a hunting hat for wild turkeys that comes complete with a built in face mask. I told him that the face net would come in handy to assist with “covering his ugly face and keep him from scaring any of our customers away”.
Of course it would not have been sufficient for me to give him a nice gift like this solo, so I gave it to him in front of all of the other employees who also thought it was hilariously funny and we all roared in laughter at him.
He took it in stride and laughed with us and even put it on and pulled the head net down over his face. It took several weeks for his face to heal and I intermittingly poked fun at him most every day until it healed.
After the recent treatment for skin cancer on my face, it first turned crimson red and then the dead skin cells scabbed over. Guess what my face looks like now? It looks as though I slid down the road face-first.
Yesterday I ran into the employee who I’d given the turkey hunting hat with the head net and had harassed so intensely about his treatment.
Hmmm
The Bible is clear that we should, “Do unto others as we would have them do unto us”. This guy somehow got this verse confused. The verse doesn’t state, “Do unto others as they have DONE to us”; it clearly states, “As we would have them DO unto us.
His twisted view of God’s word would fall under the category of exacting vengeance, and in fact there is a verse that deals with that sentiment too, and he better be careful because I can attest that like every word in the Bible is oh so painfully true…
Romans 12:19
Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
Turnabout is not fair play
