Today I drive over to Jacksonville to pay my final respects and say goodbye to one of my good friends. He started from humble beginnings, (his dad drove a taxi), but he worked hard and smart and ended up building an amazing software business which he sold for $500 million dollars.
Lesser people would have been overcome by the temptation that kind of money brings, but my friend stayed true to his Lord, his angelic wife, and the sons that he loved with all of his heart. As his life wound down and came to its final conclusion, he had given away his fortune to a variety of good causes, including $26 million dollars to the cancer hospital that treated him in his final days.
I feel sure that the Lord told him, “Well done!”, when he arrived in heaven last Friday. I can only imagine the sheer joy that he is experiencing right this moment as Christ unveils paradise to him and shows him his new “digs”.
Will you hear the words, “Well done!” when you cross the threshold of death and face your heavenly Father? If not, then begin today to fulfill God’s purpose for your life. Don’t live just for yourself, but put God first in your life. We cannot all become mega-millionaires and give away fortunes, but we can all do the Lord’s work
I got a call last night from a friend who is a former drug addict and now a gospel singer and song writer who volunteers to work with drug addicts. She requested that I send a case of Bibles to the rehab center that she founded because she gives them away to anyone who wants one. She told me ten people gave their heart and lives to the Lord Monday night and they are averaging 6-8 converts per week.
I am sending her ten cases of Bibles.
No matter whom you are or what your situation, you can and SHOULD be doing the Lord’s work and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ or helping others to share it.
Please hear me people, this work needs to start NOW, today, because like my good friend that we will bury today, there might not be any tomorrows, at least on this old wicked earth.
Life is short Eternity is forever. You do the math. Should you be spending your time building something that can be used forever? Or should you spend your time building something that can be used here on earth that will disappear like a vapor?
Duhhh
James 4:14
For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.
Duhhh!
