I saw on the news where some mega tele-preacher in Florida wants to have a “burn-the-Quran” day and is determined to go through with it in spite of the fact that the city fire marshal denied a permit for this purpose. Ok, so most people including me are upset that the Muslims want to build a mosque near ground zero, but this is a bunch of bull and this guy is way out of line.

Most including me believe in our first amendment right to express ourselves. Burning a big pile of Qurans might be legal, and building a mosque in the footsteps of ground zero might be legal, but both are designed to provoke and stir up hatred.

I’ve read the Bible a bunch of times and cannot recall anywhere that it states that we should gather up someone else’s holy book and burn it. In my opinion this is as bad as the bunch of radical Al Qaeda fanatics that blew up a centuries old Buddha that was carved into the side of a mountain in Afghanistan.

Assuming the object is to evangelize the world, just think about the impression this preacher will project to the billion or so people who are Muslims about the Christian faith. Anyone want to place a bet that none of them will line up to join up?

Jesus Christ told us that our light should so shine that others would see it and want it too. Jesus is about love and He welcomes one and all and that is one of the reasons that I love Him

1 Corinthians 13:4

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. . .And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
