I have a buddy who is going through some serious problems and it is as though he is in complete shock. He is close to the Lord and seems to act as though that should make him immune to the bad things that go on in this fallen world.
Unfortunately we are much like ping pong balls. One moment we will soar through the air and the next we will come crashing down and get slammed hard, only to soar again, to get slammed down again, to soar, to get slammed, and on and on… Christians will not receive their peace and rest until the Lord calls us home, BUT, (smile big now), when that blessed day comes it will last throughout eternity.
It rains on the righteous just like the unrighteous. I expect bad things to happen and when they do I am never caught off guard. I just hunker down and grin, (the best I can), and bear it. Knowing that a brighter day is ahead does help some.
Admittedly it’s similar to hitting your thumb with a hammer and the fact that you know that it will eventually stop hurting and feel good again is small comfort when it still HURTS! But small comfort is better than no comfort. Aside from this realization and the knowledge that I have not been singled out for punishment and everyone else on this planet is sooner or later going to have their day getting slammed when it’s their turn helps too, but the thing that helps me most in times of duress is that the Bible assures us that God is very near during these times. We need to trust Him on this and maintain rock solid faith during these times.
God bless those of you who are undergoing dark times at this moment and I earnestly pray that you will trust in the Lord to deliver you and soon you will yet again soar through the air (only like an eagle this time and not a ping pong ball)
Isaiah 40:31
But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Soaring not roaring
