I had laser surgery on my gums yesterday afternoon and it was painful to say the least. I didn’t ask for pain medicine and suffered through the night. This morning the pain is gone and aside from a little soreness, I’m feeling fine.

The sun is shining beautifully across Honey Lake and today looks to be another great day in paradise. I’m trying to wrap things up this week at Honey Lake and will depart for the Keys early next week in an all out effort to go into seclusion until finished with my book. I cannot concentrate at Honey Lake and progress on the book has been marginal at best. With all of the construction going on, it just seems hopeless and I was determined to find another way to finish the most important project of my life and departing for the Keys is the best answer I can find at the moment.

I was talking to some turkey hunters the other day and they explained that when it turned daylight hens were all around them but, they did not hear or see the first gobbler. They ended up not bagging one. The first thing I would have done would been to high tail it at full run if necessary to a better area where some gobblers were gobbling. In order to bag a gobbler sometimes it takes different strategy than what was originally thought. It’s that way with a lot of things. In short things don’t always work out as planned especially when turkey hunting; so we might as well try something new.

Too often folks tend to attempt to solve their problems by staying in the same place and trying the same things over and over again. If I hit a dead end, I start looking for another way and you will never observe me being in a rut, at least for very long.

If you are having problems this morning, think out of the box and come up with a new plan. Ask God to lead you in an entirely different direction. Don’t be afraid of the unknown; rather embrace it. I used to get infuriated as CEO when someone would come into my office and say, “The best way to do it is”

Phooey! There is always a better way to do most anything. It might take some time and thought but practically anyone can improve on practically anything. I encourage you to try new ideas when you hit a dead end

There is one exception. God is perfect and His commands as recorded in the Bible cannot be improved upon. Listen to His Spirit in the Bible. Remember He desires happiness, peace, and joy for His children and He wants us to have a deep wonderful relationship with Him. His way will work and I consider myself to be living proof of it. Although not perfect like Him, flawed as I am at the moment I am happy and I do know peace in my life. Prior to accepting Jesus in my life I was miserable, lonely and suicidal. Commit yourself to the Lord and use His holy word the Bible as a guideline to try new ideas to solve old problems.

Proverbs 16:3
Commit your works to the LORD
And your plans will be established.
