I have no respect for someone who cannot tell the truth. I do not even want to be around anyone that is so inclined. I, more than most, realize that people make mistakes and I’m willing to quickly forgive and forget many things, but lying is a difficult mistake to forgive.

Why?

I suppose one of the biggest reasons is that it is nearly impossible to ever believe anyone from that point forward. They can lie one time and then tell the truth for 999 times straight, but there always seems to be a nagging question in the back of my mind wondering if this time they are telling the truth or lying again. It boils down to simple trust. If I cannot trust someone it makes me very nervous to be around them.

The Bible is clear that the Lord is always truthful. He does not change in order to win an election, be politically correct, or to seek gain or favor. He simply tells it like it is and lets the chips fall where they may. It is wonderful to me to be able to know that His word is unswerving and it serves as the basis for my faith and I hope for yours.

Many people question God when they see the suffering in Haiti and elsewhere; however, God clearly warned that if sin was spawned that He could not tolerate it, and He would necessarily have to cast fallen mankind away from His presence. He predicted from that moment on that our days would be short and full of trouble and if we take Him at His word we should not be surprised by it. He went to great lengths to explain the consequences of sin, the dark nature of satan and his followers, and warned us of what was to come and of satan’s incessant destructive war on our lives. It is satan’s war on us that causes our pain and not God who loves us and wants to help us. Understand that satan and sin are to blame for the agony in this world and when we talk about assigning blame don’t look towards God or to our government and leaders, look to satan.

As I see front end loaders digging holes and dumping bodies I am reminded of other predictions that evoke frightening thoughts. Wars and rumors of wars, Israel being surrounded by enemies, earthquakes and famine, and pestilence are predicted to increase similar to labor pains in childbirth as the world continues to turn away from Christ just as in the days of Noah. An anti-Christ will promise to save the world and instead will bring about its destruction. The Bible’s description of blood running as high as a horse’s neck and eerie prediction of vultures gathering in large numbers for Armageddon seem surrealistic; however seeing blood running down the streets of Haiti is perhaps a sample of what is yet to come.

The Bible tells us that God hates evil, sadness, destruction, and sin. It also said He loves us more than we can ever possibly know and in fact sent His only Son to die for our sins and take our punishment in order that we might be reconciled with Him again. Today more than ever we need to accept His love and help others find their way. No one but God knows when the end will come, but it is hard not to imagine that it is not too far in the distance Take God at His word and accept Him today. Turn to Him and trust in Him and obey His commands. It is the only way out of this mess

Mat 24:10-14
At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase in wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
