A college age friend of mine talked me into signing up for Facebook over the weekend. He seemed to think that it would be a good way to let more people know about Words for the Day and the book that I am writing. He told me that as I invite various friends to my page and their friends see it and sign up that it has the capability of growing exponentially and thus could help potentially advertise WFTD and the book. So I went online and filled out the basic information and now I have a Facebook page.
I experimented with inviting people to be friends and several accepted and some asked me to be friends, (I suppose by seeing me added as a new friend on their friend’s list). I have yet to figure out how to let people know about Words for the Day or my book on it, but when I have some time I will take a look at it and try to come up with something.
As I perused the site I found it interesting to see people posting various things about what is going on in their lives at the moment even to include the latest movie that they saw.
I have been using a media consultant for some time and she has informed me that as I near completion of my book that I simply must obtain a Twitter account. I did not even know what a Twitter account was until I recently went online and looked it up utilizing Google. Twitter states that it is “a service for friends, family, and coworkers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing? It is a way to stay hyper-connected to all those around us”, (as if e-mail and cell phones are not enough).
I know what you are thinking, “Egad, when do we reach a point of information overload?” I thought the same thing, but it is interesting to me because I came up during a period of time when we did not have computers, cell phones, PDA devices, or even lowly fax machines. We used snail mail and phones with dials on them. No internet? How crude and primitive! Makes me feel like I was raised during the Neanderthal period.
I lived through all of the foregoing technology advances and saw them change the world almost overnight. I for one think that all of this knowledge is great for one reason, because it can get the message out about Jesus Christ all over the world in a nanosecond or two.
Did you know that the prophet Daniel in his prophecy of the end time in the 12th chapter verse 4 prophesied approximately 530 years before the birth of Christ that this age would be upon us? He predicted among many other things that as we enter the Last Days knowledge shall greatly increase and people will run to and fro.
Hmmm Well knowledge has certainly increased and I read that globally over 6 trillion miles are driven each year in automobiles, 100 billion on trains and subways,, nearly 2 billion people travel by plane. That is a lot of running to and fro.
The Bible also predicts that in the last days there will be a worldwide revival. Won’t you be a part of it. Use the tools like MySpace, Facebook, e-mail, Twitter, YouTube, etc. that are springing up all over the place every day to spread the word of Jesus. I get jokes and political nauseum by the e-mail box full every day, but not so many with a message like Words for the Day. If you can forward a joke, you can forward a message that just might lead someone to know the Lord.
Some may disbelieve that we are rapidly approaching the end times or that there is even going to be one. The Bible predicted that over 2000 years ago as well. Ignore the scoffers and use your intellect and the tools of this age to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. There is no reason to fear the Day of Judgment when you have Jesus Christ as your Savior. In fact you will look forward to it with great anticipation.
2Peter 3
First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this “coming” he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation. But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s Word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same Word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the Day of Judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
Information overload or great opportunity to serve the Lord?
