Surrender

Are you caught up in a problem or problems that just seem too big for you to handle. Perhaps a shaky marriage, financial woes, hatred for someone, an addiction to alcohol, drugs or pornography, problems at work, serious health problems for you or someone that you know, perhaps you have disappointed your loved ones so many times that it is hard for them to trust you; just maybe all of this is simply more than you can conquer, or perhaps even tolerate. The Bible tells us that we should “rest in the Lord”. We are weak but He is strong.

In order to have God take over our problems, we have to surrender ourselves to Him. It is hard to do, because sometimes we do not want to follow His advice. For example, you may think that you need a divorce and badly want one, but God does not want anyone to obtain a divorce.

You may be mad at your spouse, and perhaps they hurt you deeply. In your mind it could never be reconciled, but with God all things are possible. If God could resurrect His Son after being dead for three days, certainly he can resurrect your marriage. Is there any problem too big for God? The answer is NO. He can give you peace about a hatred of someone, but you have to surrender. In order to do that, you have to let go of your bitterness and let God handle vengeance if it is necessary. The Bible tells us not to be angry with anyone and to treat our enemies with kindness. He tells us that it is equivalent to pouring burning coals on their heads. It is however, hard to let go of hatred and that is what surrender is all about. God can give you peace about financial problems. The Bible tells us time and again not to worry, especially about money. He instructs us to look around at nature. The birds and flowers do not work and yet He wonderfully provides for them.

How much more so will he provide for His children that he loves deeply?
You must surrender and trust Him to get through whatever crisis that you face. Perhaps the crisis was caused from excess and you need to be taught a lesson about it. Learn what you can and trust God to get you through it.

God has a simple set of instructions for us. If we will surrender and follow His advice, the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will settle in over our lives and set us free from our fleshly problems, woes and troubles.
