Does God directly intervene in our lives? The Bible assures us that on occasion that He does indeed directly intervene if the situation warrants it and that we, His children, have angels that surround us and are charged with helping to protect us. (“For he shall give his angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways. They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.” Psalm 91:10-12)

My book chronicles several instances of what I am certain was God’s direct intervention in my own life and I am convinced of it beyond all doubt. (Incidentally I want to thank all of you who checked out the website for my book and sent such nice comments. If you have not seen it you can simply go to WWW.Miracleonluckiestreet.com and you too can check it out. I appreciate your support more than you know.

Many people attribute God’s intervention to happenstance, coincidence, or mere luck, but their lack of faith simply deprives them of witnessing God’s amazing miraculous life changing presence as He works in our lives. To me it is one of the key faith building tools in my life. Not every intervention is fun, but not all are tragic. God intervened in my life whereby I had a horrible car accident and while in the hospital recovering read the Bible and became a Christian. The situation of meeting my wife after I got out of the hospital was miraculous indeed. I do not have time to relate the details here, but trust me it was miraculous indeed. Ultimately my wife’s good stable influence on me was just what I needed and combined with my new found Christian belief system enabled me to get off drugs and get my life in order without so much as going to rehab.

I had several interventions in my business career, not the least of which was getting stuck on a plane for nine hours and being diverted to Memphis for much of the day trying to get into the Atlanta airport which was experiencing severe thunderstorms. At the time I was trying to sell our software to the Department of Defense. Guess who I was sitting next to the entire time? An Army general that was in charge of logistics, (the department that uses software like ours). We became good friends on that flight and he proved instrumental in introducing me to all of the right people in Washington D.C. and elsewhere and it was enough to get me into the pentagon and other military circles which eventually culminated in our winning the largest contract of its kind ever awarded.

I also suffered a huge embezzlement in another company whereby many of our employees banded together and stole everything in our company that was not bolted down. At the time I was strutting around like an arrogant peacock saying, “Hey look at me”, and not giving God much credit for any of my success and was definitely headed in the wrong direction in my life in several areas. I spent seven years recovering from that incident and had plenty of time to think about who was really responsible for my success. (it was God and not me.) Although one of the most difficult and stressful times of my life, I also consider this period of time the greatest thing that ever happened to me in building my business skills. In order to survive I had to learn to budget and run a business as well as it could be run. I took the fall, but recovered and went from there to enjoy tremendous success.

There are many such incidents in my life, but one of the top was when I quit drinking. April 1st, I celebrated my ninth year of sobriety. I had tried to quit drinking numerous times, and even quit for a year one time, but like all alcoholics I always went back to it. Finally I got down on my knees and prayed to God and told him that I just could not do it on my own and I needed His help now. The next week I went to get a blood test for a key man insurance policy and discovered that I had Hepatitis C. This is a wicked life threatening disease that destroys the liver. I contracted it from either sharing needles with other addicts in the 60’s, or from the many blood transfusions from my car accident. I was advised to immediately quit drinking and not exacerbate the situation with my liver.

That was just the stimulus that I needed to stop drinking. I quit drinking and the virus has remained in remission with no side effects. I am told that at any time that the virus could erupt like a wildfire and kill me, or that it could remain in remission for the rest of my life. So far so good, and as weird as it may seem I thank God for finding out that I have this awful disease, because I am far happier and healthier now that I do not drink.

The book covers many more such incidents including the miraculous conversion and acceptance of Jesus Christ by my brother Jim prior to His death. Yes God intervenes in our lives and His interest lies in His desire for us to weather the storms of this life and to succeed wildly. He stops us when we head in the wrong direction and speeds us on our way when we are on the right path. You do not need a lucky rabbit’s foot, you simply need a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ to succeed wildly in this world.

Proverbs 1:33
whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.
