One of our employees recently responded to a Words for the Day that was about God’s direct intervention in our lives. As stated in the earlier Words for the days, I have not experienced this very often in my life, but I have definitely experienced it on more than one occasion. When it does occur, it is always a moving experience. I get goose bumps and the hair stands straight up on the back of my neck. I know that there will always be those who seek scientific explanations for everything, or they just want to chalk it up to coincidence; however, if and when it happens to you, you will know!

It is a similar experience to God’s calling you to become one of His own. You probably will not see Him or hear Him directly speak to you, but you can sure feel the “Pull”. It is similar to the ocean’s underwater current pulling you out to sea. You cannot see it, but you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is there. Throughout the Bible various occurrences of contacts with the spiritual world are recorded, particularly with angels interceding or directly intervening in various person’s lives.

I am of the opinion that we should not consider it so strange if it occasionally happens now. The Bible teaches that God is the same today, as yesterday, and will remain so through all of the tomorrows, so it follows that He will continue with more of the same on occasion. Perhaps sometime an angel will offer you comfort or help you in some way, or who knows maybe even God Himself will directly intervene for you at some point. When it does you will no doubt experience spiritual goose bumps just as I’m sure you will experience when you read the following experience.

One of Horizon’s employees’ experience is as follows:

“I know this to be true as well. Like you, I’ve felt the direct hand of God at specific instances in my life. There’s more that you may find interesting as well.

About a year after my father was killed, I was sitting alone one night in our family room. Everyone else had gone to bed, and I was sitting in a rocking chair in the dark reflecting on my day and recent events. My first daughter had been attempting to take her first steps, and I found it to be a rather exciting time.

I started thinking about my Dad, as I do every day, and began to talk to him. I told him about how much joy my daughter gives me, and how much I wished I could share with him experiences of being a first time father now that I understood. He had died less than a month after she was born, and to that point we had only shared the initial giddy fascination that a beautiful new baby brings.

I asked him if he had seen her try to walk for the first time, if he had seen her crawl for the first time, if he had seen her roll over for the first time, if he had seen her smile at me for the very first time. I asked him if he was with me, and if he knew what I was feeling.

One of her toys rang out.

From across the room, I heard one of her musical toys play a loud and upbeat tune. I quit rocking while it played the song twice, and then it stopped. Motionless silence filled the room. I stared at the shadow in the corner that I knew to be her toy box, and then rested back in the chair with contentment.”
