I was walking down the hall the other day and someone stopped me and began talking. I am 90% deaf in one ear and cannot hear out of the other one. I have a very hard time hearing conversations even under normal conditions, and this guy was whispering which was aggravating to me to begin with and did not start our conversation out on a good note. Additionally he was acting very strange and nervously looking from side to side and in all directions to see if anyone was listening to our conversation. He seemed to me to be acting as though he was getting ready to discuss an impending dope deal that was getting ready to go down or something.
As I leaned forward and strained to hear what he was telling me, I discovered he was talking about seeing the article on MSN about my life and conversion to Christ and he mentioned my testimony. He began telling me in whispers that he too was a Christian and that he appreciated seeing what God had done in my life. Call me mean-spirited, but I responded to him literally at the top of my lungs booming out for anyone within 100 yards to hear, “Yes I love the Lord with all of my heart and I’m glad to see that you do as well!”
The color drained from his face and at first it turned “dead person” white, and then beet red, and he looked as if he had wet his pants or something. I continued on for a few minutes in similar fashion talking loudly and smiling broadly at his discomfort. Call me sadisitic but he looked like a squirming worm being threaded onto a hook and I actually enjoyed it. He quickly excused himself telling me that he was late for a meeting and headed down the hall walking fast like a cockroach looking for a place to hide when someone turned the lights on.
Pray for me if you like, but “please” do not send me hundreds of self-righteous e-mails; I am sorry if this seems cruel and I realize it was not Christian-like to embarrass this guy, but it is disgusting to me to see someone who acts in such a manner.
Come on folks, Jesus the glorious and holy King of all creation, came down from His throne in heaven and willingly subjected Himself to being beaten senseless, cursed, spit upon, and crucified naked in front of an entire city, taking our sins upon Himself in order that we might live. The least we can do is act like we are proud to be a Christian. I mean who was this guy so afraid might overhear that he is a Christian? I urge you to openly speak of Christ and to tell others whenever you can. Christ paid a heavy price for our salvation and the least we can do is acknowledge it openly and be proud to do so.
I am fed up with all of this political correctness and literally being afraid of offending the Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, or whomever. The followers of those religions boldly wear their head-coverings and religious garb and do not try to hide the fact in any way that they follow their religious beliefs, so why should Christians worry what they think? Why should we care what anyone thinks other than our Lord and Savior?
I believe that it grieves Jesus to no end to see those who claim His salvation to be embarrassed to no end to be overhead openly talking about Him. Lest you think that your religious beliefs are a private matter and should remain just between you and the Lord, you need to study your Bible because it commands us in no uncertain terms in numerous passages to do otherwise. We are to go into the world boldly proclaiming the good news to one and to all. Think about this today. Proudly and openly tell someone “today” about your faith and love for your Savior and put a smile on our Lord’s face. It is the least we can do for Him
Matt. 10:32
Therefore whoever confesses
Me before men, him I will also
confess before My Father who is in
heaven.
But whoever denies Me before
men, him I will also deny before My
Father who is in heaven.
Openly embrace Jesus
