I went fishing with some friends Saturday and had an enjoyable time being out on the ocean. The weather was excellent and the ocean was very calm and there were plenty of hungry fish around. I have not seen the water in the ocean any more beautiful than it was Saturday. Ordinarily I wear dark polarized sunglasses, but the ocean was so beautiful, that most of the day I did not wear my sunglasses in order that I might enjoy the water color in its natural state. It was a deep cobalt blue and almost looked like ink it was so clean. I could see down at least 80-100 feet. Clean water generally means excellent productive fishing and there were plenty of fish out there to be caught.
There is a place in the Bahamas called the “Pocket” that I like to fish. When the wind blows from the East, it pushes beautiful blue clean water such as I just described into this area and it is literally teaming with Marlin and other fish. Let the wind turn and blow in from the west and it turns a murky green and the fish leave the area following the clean water. If you are lucky enough to find the line between the clean and dirty water a fisherman can usually mop up by fishing the clean side of the line where the fish have stacked up. I was thinking of this phenomenon Saturday and relating it to our lives. When our lives are fresh and clean it seems that good things happen and we are far more productive. Let our lives get dirty and we just cannot be productive.
Listen to what the beautiful, clean, and productive cycle of the ocean tells you. Unlike the ocean, we always have a choice as to the steering current of our lives and importantly we can be comforted in knowing that we have Someone, (Jesus Christ), who loves us deeply who will help us keep it clean. Once we have accepted Him as our Savior, we are promised that even if we slide to the dirty side, that He will not let anything separate us from Him. He is keenly interested in helping us to stay on course in order that we might enjoy life and enjoy it more abundantly and we should just ask Him to help us to do so. Let us aim for keeping our lives fresh, clean, and beautiful like the beautiful blue cycle of the ocean. With almighty God’s help we can keep it clean starting today!
Romans 8:38
For I am persuaded that neither
death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things
present, nor things to come,
nor height, nor depth, nor any
other created thing, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Keep it fresh and clean
