One way street?

I have some people in my life to whom I have rendered some help, (both moral and financial support), on numerous occasions. They have had more than their fair share of trials and tribulations and I am happy to do it. I called one of them the other day just to say hello and check up on them as it had been quite a while since I had done so. I was greeted rather coldly and was chastised for not calling earlier. Huh?

That ruffles my feathers a little, after all I haven’t seen any phones installed lately with the dialer missing; my question is why didn’t they call me? Have you ever noticed how “one way” some folks can be? “News flash”: Love St. is not a one way street. Too often it seems it is only “their” feelings that count and what is going on in “their” life that is important and everything and everyone else is irrelevant.

Sometimes in my walk with God, I catch myself going down this one way street. Prayer should not always be about, “What can You do for me Lord?” Instead it should be, “Thank you Lord I appreciate what all you have done for me, and oh by the way, I haven’t told you lately, but I think You are the best Father anyone could ever want”.

Don’t get into the one way’ street syndrome with your parents, friends or most of all your Creator. Consider that the world does not revolve just around your’ problems and your’ life. Others have a life, (and feelings) too. Maybe you should pick up the phone and call that special person in your life, that always seems to call you’ and whom you never seem to get around to calling them. Maybe we should all do that todayI bet it would make the day for many people.

Most of all we should praise our King and Savior Jesus Christ. He died a lonely painful death on the cross for us in order that we might be saved. We should take our eyes off of ourselves, (if only for a moment), and forget about our problems, desires, and needs and just praise and thank God almighty for what He has already done for us through Jesus Christ. The Bible states that one day even the trees will sing praises to the Lord with joy; how about you? Sung any praises to the Lord lately?

Why not stop what you are doing right where you are sitting and pick up the prayer phone right now and tell Him how much you love Him and how much you appreciate all that He has done and continues to do for you every second of every day. I just did…

Psalm 96:4
For great is the Lord and most worthy of
Praise
