One time I participated in an interview for Revelation Television in the UK; (I’m told that it is similar to the 700 Club in this country). The 26 minute interview was plagued with problems. The technicians had enormous difficulty getting the lighting adjusted to their satisfaction, but finally the cameras started rolling. About 6 minutes into the interview, POOF! – A breaker was tripped and all of the lights went off.
Hmmm . . . I was sitting in total darkness and I do mean total darkness – I couldn’t even see my hand in front of me. Finally a door opened and light came in and with it two technicians who immediately began scurrying around trying to get the lights shining brightly again.
PING! The lights came on again. I had been giving a narrative of the early days of my life and couldn’t remember where I left off, but the interviewer reminded me and I started again. Another few minutes went by and POOF! All of the lights went off again. The scene repeated itself.
This occurred two more times until they finally got some extension cords and plugged the massive lights up into another outlet located in different rooms. The huge lights were hot and the frustration was taking its toll, by now I was perspiring and jittery. I wasn’t frustrated as much by the lighting problems besetting us; rather because I couldn’t remember what I had said in the interview and what remained to be said. I’ve offered my testimony hundreds of times and with all the interruptions and without a script for all I knew I was probably repeating myself.
At last the lights came on and we started “rolling” again and after a few minutes I heard one of the technicians emit an oath. He muttered “Now the #*$& microphone has blown! CUT!“
I smiled at him and told him not to worry, “This too shall pass”. He looked at me like I’d lost my mind, (and it was him that had the crazy eyes this time). This was rapidly turning into a Chinese fire drill. The technicians disappeared and then reappeared with a couple of more microphones and hooked me up again and finally I was able to finish the interview.
The guy conducting the interview laughingly told me that at least it hadn’t been a “live” interview and that they could edit it before streaming it overseas, (which they did over the course of the next few days). I’m told they posted it on my website too, but I didn’t have the nerve to go online and watch it.
As I was going through all of this I could not help but wonder if Satan was laying down a gauntlet of dirty tricks in an all out effort to prevent this testimony from getting out to someone it might help.
I think so . . .
If so, he was unsuccessful. Most of us who love Jesus Christ try to do various things as we are led to fulfill God’s mission for our life. The Bible tells us that it is not an easy road. and Satan will undoubtedly try to foil our attempts, but that we should remain persistent and never give up. We can pray for help, and it will not be withheld, but we must remain faithful and persistent.
If Satan is pestering you this morning, hang in there; you are not without angelic help sent by God to protect and assist you. Satan can and will be defeated, albeit you will undoubtedly suffer some frustration. We were given an example in the Bible whereby Elisha prayed that God would open the eyes of his companion to the spiritual world that surrounded and protected them in order that his friend whose faith was weak could personally see the angelic horde that was available to help them in order to quell his fears. God did so and it nearly took his breath away.
I’ve often wished that I could experience this phenomenon first-hand; it had to be heartening to this young man as he faced the Syrians, and it had to do wonders for his faith at that particular moment.
God has not elected to give me my own personal vision of the angels that surround me, but He did give me this example in His Holy Bible. I’m fine with that and can envision what it must have looked like via the descriptions provided . . .
We should all fortify our souls by reading the Bible daily; for within its covers lie the answers to every problem that we face this fine morning and every morning. Open your Bible right now and pray for a while about the problems that beset you and envision the vast horde of angelic friends that surround you who stand ready, willing, and able to assist you get through this and every day. Now smile and let the cameras roll!
2 Kings 6:17
Then Elisha prayed, “O LORD, open his eyes and let him see!” The LORD opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.
