I watched the roast of football’s legendary quarterback Tom Brady last night on Netflix. I was nauseous at the amount of cursing and filthy jokes that were not funny that were espoused. Funny or not the audience roared their approval with applause and hysterical laughing. I wanted to watch it because Kim Kardashian and Ben Affleck were both in the news all week, being savaged because of their comments at the roast. They were not any worse than the rest.
I forced myself to watch all three hours of it. When it was over I told my wife that it was the obscenest show I had ever witnessed and was too gross to even reiterate, especially in this post. If anyone doesn’t think we are living in the “Last Days” they should just watch that show.
While we were watching it a severe thunderstorm moved in and it was like an exclamation point from God that I was correct in my assessment. It thundered and lightning was popping everywhere. I was happy that God was not angry with me. As for me I only felt sadness. They repeatedly blasphemed God and didn’t even realize that they were committing a grievous sin in so doing.
The Bible is clear that unsaved people do not understand sin or how God feels about it. Here in the United States, they have plenty of opportunities to read the Bible and there will be no acceptable excuse for their behavior when they are judged. But obviously it is far from their minds. Three hours of absolute filth. I am praying for them to change their wicked ways, but they seem to be in Satan’s full control. Nonetheless I pray for them.
The entire show on Netflix reminds me of Jesus being on the cross with people jeering, cursing, and laughing at Him. Jesus’ words “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” are found in Luke 23:34. Jesus looked down from the cross upon a scene that must have been distressing to Him. The Roman soldiers were gambling for His clothing (John 19:23–24); the criminals on the crosses to either side of Him were reviling Him (Matthew 27:44); the religious leaders were mocking Him (Matthew 27:41–43); and the crowd was blaspheming Him (Matthew 27:39). Surrounded by this most unworthy lot, Jesus prayed for them. “Father, forgive them” is a prayer of unmatched mercy and love.
There is only one way to have everlasting life in heaven and it is through Jesus Christ God’s one and only Son. This brief stint on earth is our only shot at redemption. Don’t squander it. Follow Jesus today!
Psalm 1:1
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday!
