I did not get an opportunity to go to church for the past two Sundays in a row due to being in classes both weekends all weekend long. I can readily feel the negative influence of having missed church and I look forward to next Sunday whereby I can get rid of it. It is always amazing to me to see first hand how the Bible truths work out in real life. To me it is one of the greatest affirmations of God’s truth and is very much a part of building faith.
God tells us that we need to have fellowship with other Christians in order to effectively combat the evil negative influence of satanic forces in our lives; i.e. attend church, Sunday school, Bible study groups etc. When I miss church I easily understand why He tells us to not forsake the gathering together of ourselves, as I am not at peace and feel uneasy.
When young we often did not understand why our parents told us not to do various things that may have appeared fun at the time. Later in life we look back and see where their intentions were to protect us, not to prevent us from having a good time and that what we thought was fun was not in our best interest after all. Too many non-Christians do not understand this concept. They believe that Christians are inundated with senseless rules and laws that prevent them from having fun and a ‘good time’. Given time, it always bears out that the rules and laws are there for our own good and God is the most loving parent anyone might imagine. The commands in the Bible are for our own good and if we obey them we will succeed and find peace and happiness and have the kind of fun that non-Christians only dream about. Go to church next Sunday and prove it to yourself…
1 Thess. 5:9
For God did not appoint us to
wrath, but to obtain salvation
through our Lord Jesus Christ
who died for us, that whether we
wake or sleep, we should live
together with Him.
Therefore comfort each other
and edify one another…
For our own good
