My recovery from rotator cuff surgery has been nothing short of a miracle. I had no further use of the sling that they told me my arm would be in for six weeks after just 4 or 5 days. I can lift my arms and type with little discomfort. My shoulder still is a little sore, but I don’t experience any “ouch-Pain” anymore. So, I have resumed bush hogging on my tractor and clearing timber with my skid steer and other tasks on my farm. The only thing I cannot do is lift anything that is heavy. I’m slowly gaining in that department but suspect it will be a few more weeks.

I attribute my progress to answered prayers and I thank each and every one of you once again for your prayers for me. I asked my physical therapist if I was normal. After she broke out belly laughing she said that seriously some patients recover faster than others and in my case, I was making exceptional progress that she has rarely seen. I’m glad I’m on that end of the equation.

I suppose the highlight for me was catching a bass while sitting on the dock of our pond the other day. My wife and I were enjoying the summer evening and I told her I wanted to see if I could catch a bass. I wasn’t sure I could reel one in, but I rigged up a rod and reel and made my cast.

On the very first cast, I immediately felt a tap, tap, on my plastic worm and I set the hook. A bass exploded and I fought him to the dock and after admiring him released him. Well, that answered that question, there is no longer any doubt that I can catch and reel in a bass. So maybe this weekend I will take my bass boat out for a spin and see what happens.

I got a note from some dear friends in Tallahassee yesterday who has been going through turbulent dark times. My buddy’s wife was riding her horse and it spooked and took off running and threw her into the barn door. She was seriously hurt with broken bones and a swollen brain. Her prognosis was not good, but they have spiritual friends all over the place and many of us prayed for her daily throughout her ordeal.

His update yesterday was excellent. Her brain is back to functioning normally, and they took her off all meds. Her broken bones are repairing nicely, and she is up and walking with a cane now. This godly couple attributes her progress to answered prayer. Amen to that. We often hear of stories where God answers prayer with a no, or not now, but I can attest as most of you can that God often grants our prayers with a resounding YES!

My wife and I walked out on our front porch this morning and it is a beautiful crisp morning. The crows were loudly declaring they had spotted an owl or hawk or some other enemy and were cawing their blackheads off and loudly congregating to harass whatever it was. I glanced over at the pond and saw several fish surfacing. And I mustn’t forget “dessert,” I noticed some movement out of the corner of my eye and saw a doe feeding on clover the edge of the field behind our house. Nice!

You can believe that I was thanking God for ALL His blessing, and I prayed for those on my long prayer list.

No matter what you are going through today keep the faith, my friends. We will be tested, but God holds all the answers to even the most difficult test. Stick with him and you will receive straight A’s.

James 5:16
And the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick. The Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power to prevail. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years . . .

Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday!
