Well, I got another contract on my house in the Keys and the closing is set for August 5th. It’s good timing because we are closing on our farm this Friday and I don’t want or need two houses.  Many of my friends have worried themselves silly about the previous buyers backing out at the last minute, but I just took it in stride. If it falls through again at the last minute, I will do the same. I had buyers fall through on selling Honey Lake, and my boats, but those have sold now and the Keys house is the last remaining item.

I am not particularly known for having patience and most of my family and friends would break out laughing if I said I was the picture of patience, but there Is one exception. I am impatient only when it is something for which I have control. The things beyond my control where I cannot make a difference I accept without a murmur and wait on the Lord.

I am not bold enough to challenge God Almighty on the things beyond my control. Those things belong to Him. When I pray, I don’t demand my way. I sincerely pray to God and politely ask Him to supply my needs as He sees fit at a time of His choosing. Some of my past employees who observed my “take no prisoners” – “make something happen today” attitude as I fought through my business life building companies would find it amazing that I just accept those things beyond my control calmly and without complaint.

There are many disadvantages to growing old but there are also advantages. Wisdom is number one on the list. I finally realized that I was not in charge of everything, in fact, whatever authority God gave me in business or in life came directly from God. It saves so much stress and strife to fight this premise and now that I don’t do it anymore, I’m much happier.

I hope some of the younger people reading this can achieve peace with God regarding this issue. God is in charge, and He has a plan and it’s a good and perfect one. If things don’t go exactly as you planned, just maybe your plan was not God’s plan. Listen carefully and relax. In His good and perfect timing, God will make those plans known to you and then you will receive the go-ahead and can proceed with reckless abandon.

Proverbs 2:1
My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
