I had an e-mail yesterday questioning my statement: “In fact WE do not do much of anything, but reap the harvest. God does the convicting and was the One who planted the seed.” My response to this individual was:
“Don’t take my word for it, read what the Bible says about it. God plants the seed within us, the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sins, Jesus paid the price for us, and we reap the harvest by simply introducing Him to someone who is lost. Sounds to me like He does the work”. I base my faith upon my interpretation of the Bible, not on human logic. If I get something wrong, it is because I misinterpreted the true meaning. These differences in understanding lead to different denominations. One difference between Methodists and Baptists is Baptism. Methodists could Baptize the entire county with a cup of water because they sprinkle the water over the head. Baptists take the Bible literally as it reads that we should be “immersed”. Thus being lowered into the water and underneath and then raised up through the surface again symbolizing the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
To be quite honest with you, I think God is happy to see someone try to be obedient by being Baptized regardless of the methodology and even if they do not follow the exact prescribed ritual. ( Tis simply “My”
opinion, please, no nasty letters.)

Often I find things in the Bible that are very hard for me to understand. There are some things in the Bible that had I been God, I would have setup differently. Of course with my limited intellect, fleshly weakness, and inability to be omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient it is a good thing, because I am sure I would have made a big mess of everything. I used to have a Labrador retriever. Had I tried to explain a complex computer program to him, he would have looked at me with those wonderful brown eyes and wagged his tail, but he would not have had a clue about what I was trying to explain to him. We are much the same. God created us lower than himself as well as the angels, just as He created my dog lower than me. We cannot understand everything because we do not have the intellect for it. We must accept these things on FAITH, giving God His deserved respect for His authority and our acknowledgement that even though we do not understand every little thing in our Universe, it has to be perfect because He engineered the entire plan.

I have experienced what I believe to be a micro-analogy of what God must go through. As the head of a fairly large organization, I often make decisions and on occasion some of our employees and those outside our organization have been critical of them when they do not have the slightest idea of what they are talking about. Sometimes I do things and make decisions regarding our company that on the surface would look pretty dumb; however if everyone had access to all of the information that I do, it would make more sense. They have one tiny look at their piece of the picture, but I have the big picture with all of the information in our company available to me. I get angry about it sometimes, especially when they are way off base and really are dead wrong. Imagine how it makes God feel when lowly man questions His judgment, when God who unlike mankind, is perfect, has absolute power, knows everything, and can be everywhere at the same time. He created everything and loved us so much that He lowered Himself to lowly flesh was beaten, humiliated and crucified in order to have fellowship with us. He wants us to trust Him, not our own limited judgment. To me that is faith and we all need more of it. Just like when we experience the loss of a loved one or other tragedy, we do not understand why it has to be that way, but God knows and it is an integral part of His perfect plan. We should just accept things as they come as best we can, realize that God loves us more than we can understand, and move on with life trusting that everything will eventually work out for the best.
