Two of our readers provided today’s WFTD. There is nothing here for me to add.
1 Cor.3:5-9
Who then is Paul, and who is
Apollos, but ministers through
whom you believed, as the Lord gave
to each one?
I planted, Apollos watered,
but God kept making it grow;
So that neither is he that plants
anything, nor is he that waters, but
God who makes it grow.
Now he that plants and he who
waters are one, and each person
will receive his own reward according
to his own labor.
For we are God’s fellow workers;
you people are God’s field
under cultivation, you are
God’s building.”
“I think it’s a great privilege to be able to tell people about my God and the wonderful things he does for us and will do for us in the future. By doing so, we become God’s fellow workers, according to the Bible. What an honor! He uses us to plant that seed of the truth in people, and to help them learn to know him. But as it says, God is the one who makes it grow. He will make it grow in them if they accept him and do his will. But lest we be puffed up with pride because we helped someone know God, the Scripture lets us know that does not make us anything. As sinful humans, there is nothing that we can do to repay the debt of life we owe to God. Which makes the sacrificial death of Jesus all the more wondrous, because we did and can do nothing to deserve this. That is true love – love without any kind of selfish motivation.”
And another wrote:
“On the harvesting matter, my interpretation is in agreement with yours.
It is often tough for man to admit that our works and accomplishments are not ours, but a gift and blessing from God. I think if more Christians held to this humble belief to trust in God and He will do all of the work, we would have a stronger church as a whole.”
