I related my bad day experience the other day to you, but it did not end there. At the end of my really bad day at the office, including hearing the news of my friends death, I headed to the airport. I arrived at 5:30 for my 6:30 flight. My plane was delayed until 1:00 A.M. I arrived in Philadelphia at 3:30 A.M. It took forever to get my luggage because hardly anyone works that late at night at airports. When I got my luggage I needed a ride to my hotel. The shuttle to the hotel was closed for the night. There were no taxis and the rental car place had shut down. I, along with about one hundred other people, waited in the freezing wind and cold as taxis slowly trickled in. I finally got a ride to my hotel. I asked for a nonsmoking room; however when I didn’t show up, they gave it to someone else. The only room they had left was smoking. At 4:30 A.M. I had no other choice, I took the stinking room.
My appointment was downtown Philadelphia at 9:00 A.M.. I laid down for about an hour or so, got up at 7:00, took a shower and rushed off to my meeting in a taxi. I was in my meeting until 2:30 P.M. and then had to rush to the airport where I barely made my 3:40 flight. I got on the plane and had a window seat. I had been sitting there for about an hour and happened to notice the guy sitting next to me was a “flaming’
homosexual and he was looking at a pornographic magazine of naked men. I had to fly all of the way to Atlanta sitting next to this guy. I was praying that no one thought I was with him. I got to Atlanta and had to catch another delayed flight to L.A. I got into L.A. at 12:00 midnight.
The next morning I found out that the other people I had flown out there to be with me at our meeting were snowed in at Denver and could not come to our meeting. The customer cancelled the meeting because the geeks would not be there. This only cost me $5000 to fly everyone out there.
I decided to leave early and just come home. I booked a 1:00 P.M.flight. It was delayed until 8:30 P.M. I arrived in Atlanta, caught a cab home with a surly guy who didn’t speak much English and charged me $80 bucks. I walked into my house at 4:00 A.M. this morning.
At 7:30 I was awakened by yard keepers running leaf blowers, weed eaters, and mowers. At 11:00 I couldn’t stand it any longer, got dressed and came to work.
I am trying to remember that others have it worse and my problems are insignificant. It isn’t easy when I focus on my problems. I found out that a very dear friend of mine might have had a stroke and is undergoing tests today to determine why his hand has gone numb. I ask everyone to pray for him. If you have any time left please say a word for me too. I want to stop the downward spiral into the abyss and pop back up one more time.

Now no chastening seems to be

nevertheless afterward it yields
