Greetings from an undisclosed location close to Portland Oregon. (LOL – I’m trying to lay low from Antifa thugs since I cannot have a weapon with me in this evil place.) I was appalled yesterday to see a local school that had a sign stating that free breakfast and lunch will be provided for the entire year for every student.
Wow! So let me get this straight, if I am a multi-millionaire and my kids go to school here in this school district, their breakfasts and lunches for an entire school year will be paid for by the taxpayers. Interesting . . .
Ironically, this very morning I got the following email from a reader:
In Fairfax County, VA this upcoming school year, they just announced that ALL students, not just ones that need help, will receive free breakfast and lunch for the entire school year!!! So now my taxes will be going to pay for food for kids’ families who make way more than I do which makes absolutely no sense at all!!!
I am uniquely qualified to speak about the school lunch program because I sold software for over a decade that managed the school lunch program system including determining who qualified for the breakfast/lunch program. It was based on need, but now just seems to be universal feeding to one and all.
Our leaders are borrowing money at rates that will bankrupt future generations and spending it on programs like this that make absolutely no sense whatsoever. I read where the Biden administration is trying to get 100 billion dollars to spend on illegal immigrants. No wonder they are streaming into the United States by the tens of thousands daily.
Where will this money come from? Much of the workforce sits at home receiving fat paychecks for not working. That means they pay no taxes. Those who do work are penalized by having to pay more than their fair of taxes to support the bums.
Consider that the latest government data show that the top 10% of wage earners earned 48% of the income and paid 71% of federal income taxes.
Does that sound fair? Fair or unfair aside, one must ponder why any entrepreneur would invest in risky businesses and work 20-hour days if the government is simply going to take the bulk of the money that you earn from you and give it to some freeloader who is too lazy to get off his butt and work.
As usual there are a bevy of the bleeding heart pious who slobber and cry about helping the poor. News Flash: We are not helping the poor by teaching them to live off the government and worse teach their children how to do the same. We are perpetuating a class of poor people who have little self-esteem who sit on the porch all day staring at nothing in particular and live to see a government check each month. It is a tragic waste of beautiful minds and lives.
The truly needy were cared for by the church in times past, but no one, including me, is arguing about not taking care of that segment of the population. However people are rightly upset about leadership that provides the funding for able-bodied people to just lay around sucking the blood out of the working class like gorging fat leeches. Geez you cannot go anywhere in this country without seeing help-wanted signs. Why the labor shortage? Because they make more by staying home.
I was homeless when I hitchhiked into Atlanta. I could have worked but chose not. I used to laugh at those whom I saw going to work every morning as I sat on a porch stoop or curb getting high. Just look at all those suckers I would muse.
After coming to know Christ, work I did. I went to work with reckless abandon in part because of reading Proverbs over and again and trying to live by its wisdom and not only Proverbs but other parts of the Bible including the writings of the Apostle Paul who was a tentmaker and paid his own way as he traveled preaching the Gospel.
The Apostle Paul said: In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.” We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies.
Godly wisdom! Even if we go back to the very beginning before the fall of mankind, God himself taught that we were to work beginning with Adam. Genesis 2:15 – The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.
It is God’s desire that if we are able-bodied that we should work. God’s desire is for us to be happy. Just remember Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. It states, “I can do” and that my friends, implies we must do our part and should work and not sit around awaiting hitting the lottery. We should also work hard to identify leaders who have Godly wisdom and know-how an economy works and then get down and vote for them . . .
Proverbs 10:4
He who has a slack hand becomes poor . . .
