I get correspondence every day from Words for the Day. I love to hear from readers good or bad and encourage you to keep them coming. Most are very interesting and are helpful in my own life and I consider it to be one of the most valuable rewards for writing it. I especially like the different points of view I receive and trust me I read every one of them.
I believe the gentleman who wrote the following to have been filled with the Holy Spirit when he wrote:
Though I am forced to live in this world until the Lord decides it is time for me to come join him, I refuse to be “of this world”. No matter the ongoing idiocy in this country, for which I spent 2 years in Vietnam following orders, I count my blessings.
A warm home in this winter season, a good son and daughter-in-law. Another good daughter-in-law to the children of one deceased son. 4 beautiful granddaughters. A great Christian wife, good Christian friends and above all, a loving Savior. I am thankful to Him for all these things. And I am thankful to you Bob, for putting in the time and the work to spread the Gospel.
Hmmm . . . He acknowledges that the world is not the ultimate, especially living in Montana in the harsh winter – LOL – He counts his blessings and enumerates some of them expressing thanks for his Christian wife and family, friends, his loving Savior. Heck he even gave me a shout out. Thankfulness oozes from him in spite of facing what we all face in this crazy world. He did not elaborate beyond this letter but I know he has faced difficult trying times by his reference to serving a tour in the Vietnam War and the loss of a son. I read and reread this a couple of times because it is so in tune with what Jesus wants from us. To recognize that we are not of this world and though at times it is difficult we all need to thank God for loving us. Remember there is no such thing as dying. We just get to finally go home and to be aware that the journey is not without some hardship now and then.
Another very long time reader and “friend” wrote, and (though I’m not sure what he was full of when he wrote the following,) nonetheless he means well I think:
Bob
You are not going to believe this one. Last night, Linda and I were having dinner at a bar since all tables were booked. A couple sits next to us and we start chatting. She is a defense attorney. We got into some deep stuff and I mentioned your book. She said “I have that book. Bob is great. Her husband chimes in also talking about how great you are. But she did not know of Words for the Day.
I think she will be a subscriber.
However, I got tired of them talking about your greatness so I spilled a glass of wine on her 🙂

Too funny! It is nice to know that my limited platform has reached distant places and if nothing else has stimulated conversation about our Savior. And for the record God is the One who is great and my servitude to Him is an honor and a privilege and only made possible through the Holy Spirit. He is great and I’m not so great!
Have a good Wednesday and honor God wherever and whenever you can. Don’t worry about detractors, simply be totally transparent with your need for something more than yourselves, knowing Christ above all else and realizing we are fully equipped for whatever challenge we must endure on our journey home. We have been given the power we need to make it through the journey and though we might be bruised and battle scarred by the time we get there we shall receive eternal life in our new homes in paradise.
Oh Yeah!
2 Peter 1:3
lHis divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
