Most everyone is getting cabin fever and looking for some vestige of normalcy in their lives due to the virus lockdowns. Here in Jupiter Florida some people have been trying to break the monotony of being cooped up all day by going for long isolated walks on the beach, others like to go offshore for a day of fishing on the ocean, and others can be seen on the golf course or jogging and trying to stay healthy. As for me, I have been doing a little offshore fishing with a friend of mine. So yesterday they closed offshore fishing to all but commercial fishermen. They closed all marinas where people cannot get their boats in the water, boat ramps, and inlets that allow access to the ocean. The question is why?
Fisherman generally have 1-4 people on their boats, they have no physical contact with anyone, and it is an example of bureaucrats at their worst. Do they think fishermen are going to spread the virus to the fish? I wonder what was going through the minds of the government goons who thought that one up, and I wonder why they would implement such a draconian measure. I suspect it is because hordes of college kids who went on spring break formed large crowds on the beaches and sandbars and could be seen with small rented boats with 20 young people on them. The press jumped all over it and instead of targeting them, they just closed all of the beaches and eliminated boating for everyone. I understand the need for social distancing, washing hands, and not being around large crowds, but this is in a word is ridiculous!
I was glad to see the President moving towards allowing Americans to get on with their lives in a couple of weeks. Progressive Democrats are already lambasting him for making this move. Why haven’t they done likewise and protested not shutting down the country over the ordinary flu that has killed 36,00 to as many as 79,000 in a year? Politics and a complete lack of common-sense rule for them. Trump has mentioned opening those areas that have not been hit hard by the virus and leaving it in effect in the places it is rampant, namely densely populated areas with a high percentage of people living there from other countries – Places like New York. Some rural areas don’t have a single case and yet they are on the same type of lockdown being used in NYC, LA, and Seattle.
We are getting a taste of what it’s like in socialist/communist countries where lunatics rule. There is no freedom. Those pseudo-experts who think they know what is best for the people because we are too dumb to think for ourselves, lust for control of every aspect of our lives. They prohibit us from going to church, meeting for small groups, owning guns, speaking contrary to the official ideology coming from their hallowed ivory towers, choosing the doctor and insurance plan that is best for our families, and even going fishing for a day. But they insist that the abortion mills stay open regardless if they use medical supplies needed elsewhere or not.
It makes me want to gag. How do these people get elected? Are we that dumb? Americans love their freedom, but we must remember there are those who want to take it away from us. What is so alarming is that young people seem to be moving in that direction. Most of them don’t even know what a socialist is. All we need to do is look at the progressive country of Venezuela where people are literally starving to death even though their country has the largest oil reserves in the world to understand the idiocy of such thinking. Therein lies the problem. They cannot think. So where are their parents?
