Yesterday I went fishing with a friend of mine. The water was beautiful, sparkling clean, and azure blue and the weather was just right. Sailfish were abundant, and we had loads of fun.
I normally don’t allow politics to be discussed on the boat, but we did vent some about the unpatriotic people in our country who hate everything about our beautiful land. They despise President Trump so much that they openly support our enemies with the same propaganda and lies the dictators use instead of putting aside our differences even momentarily to rally around defending our nation from common enemies who are determined to slaughter us.
It seems that so-called celebrities are among the most vocal. George Lopez has mentioned on no less than three occasions that he would like to assassinate President Trump. Ah . . . Freedom of speech is a two-edged sword is it not? I’m old enough to remember actress Jane Fonda sitting atop an anti-aircraft gun in Hanoi and broadcasting anti-American messages to our troops and enemies. Nothing has changed. For the life of me I cannot understand how these people and ultra-rich billionaires who have been so blessed by living in this country and enjoying its freedoms disparage the very country that made them so rich and famous.
And when one thinks about it, what qualifies actors and actresses to offer sage advice on how to run the country? Because they played a part of someone smart in a movie?
Fortunately, my buddy and I didn’t allow these clowns too much of our airtime and quickly returned to fishing. No drama, no agonizing over political lies, no steam coming out of ears, just enjoying the sunny day, nice breeze and waiting for the line to start screaming and for a sailfish to begin tail-walking across the water. No worries about Iran, Pelosi’s “Trumped” up impeachment charges, media lies, fake news, Democrat misinformation, and all the rest, just good clean fun enjoying life in the greatest country in the world.
I pray for the people in this country and that those who have nothing more in their lives than their hate will be healed. It seems that similar to Satan they want everyone to be miserable like they are. If they would just find Jesus their misery would melt away. We have a choice to be bitter and filled with hate or to be happy and filled with hope. Jesus offers hope and I encourage you to listen to him. Please don’t say He doesn’t talk to you. This evening watch a sunset, or perhaps go for a hike, or get out on the ocean or a lake or pond. Drive outside of town and look at the stars in the sky. God is proclaiming His love for you and me everywhere we look. Enjoy it and don’t let those who are blind to the Lord and “cannot see” block your vision too.
