Does anyone have trouble in their life today? In talking with people I sometimes think that it would be easier to ask, Is anyone FREE from trouble in their life? The Bible states that our lives are destined to be “short and full of trouble”. We are not left “hanging” though, God tells us how to overcome trouble. The plan is simple, turn your troubles over to the Lord and let Him handle it. He guarantees that if you will do this, peace will be yours. The plan does require that we follow Jesus and not the world, and therein lies the problem. Too often we follow the world and not Jesus.

Going to church on Sunday is a good example. It is not very time consuming to go to church. Compared to the rest of the week, “time wise”, it is just a drop in the bucket to attend church. Yet the “pull”
of the world keeps us from attending sometimes. The same holds true with studying the Bible. Even 15 minutes a day isn’t asking for much. Some do not spend that much time per month, and some do not ever open it. In dark times we want Jesus to help us deal with our trouble, yet we are not willing to spend even a couple of hours, or even a few minutes with Him a day. It can become a habit where there is no attending of church, praying, or Bible study. It begins by missing a day or two and then an entire week, and then week after week, progressing to month after month, and one day you look back and it has been year after year since you even bothered thinking about God. Then along comes the worst trouble that you have ever experienced in your life. Would you want a friend that only called on you when they wanted something? Would someone like that be a friend? Are you a friend of Jesus? I cannot
think of a better friend to have.

Attending church, praying, and studying the Bible will not make our lives free from trouble. The Bible does not state that our lives are, going to be short and free of trouble, provided we follow Jesus. We will still have trials and tribulation, but, if we follow Jesus instead of the world, we can count on His help to guide us through every snare and pitfall the world can muster up and we can still enjoy peace.
Without His help, we must deal with the trouble that is bound to visit us on our own. Without Jesus, there can be no peace and it will be miserable. Eternity without Him will just be Hell.

John 16:33
“These things I have spoken to
you, that in Me you may have
peace. In the world you will have
tribulation; but be of good cheer,
I have overcome the world.”
