I watched an interview with the new police chief of Los Angeles yesterday. This is the same man who helped Rudy Guillani do such a tremendous job in cleaning up crime in New York City a few years back.
During the interview, they were discussing the enormous problems facing LA, including seriously entrenched gangs and their violent warfare and crimes of unparalled description, some corrupt police and the others disheartened because everyone is lumped together, a soaring crime rate, especially murder, out of control drug problems, and on and on. The police chief was asked how he felt about the situation, and didn’t he feel overwhelmed? This man just smiled and said it is all in the way you look at it. He went on to say that the way he looked at it was, “that it presented a ‘wonderful opportunity’, everywhere he turned there was something that needed to be fixed”.
I thought this was way cool! What an outlook. Most of us would whine and snivel and feel sorry for ourselves as we struggled with trying to resolve these enormous life and death serious problems. This guy just smiles and views it all as one big opportunity to fix things. I am going to try and take a page out of this guy’s book and emulate this attitude. The problems that we face are just opportunities to fix things and make them better.
You know this is exactly what the Bible tells us to do with our lives.
We are not to worry. We should use whatever gifts God has given to us to do the best that we can and let God take care of the rest. We should not be anxious about the outcome, but instead put our faith in God and in our ability to resolve all of our problems with His help. If we ask Jesus to help us and sincerely do not worry about our problems and completely and totally put our faith and trust in Him, everything will work out for the best.

And we know that all things work
together for good to those who love
God, to those who are called according
to His purpose.
