Christmas should be about Jesus. We are celebrating His birth. Many people lose sight of that. It is easy to get caught up in the presents and Santa, but the real cause for celebration, (reason for the season) is the birth of our Savior. A good friend of mine suddenly lost his mother last week. Her funeral is today. What a way to spend the Christmas holidays, mourning the loss of a loved one. I know that he was very close to his mother and I really feel for him and I ask everyone to pray for him right now as he faces one of the toughest days of his life today. My heart goes out to him. I have personally experienced the sudden death of my own mother and my brother. It is heart wrenching any time, but it must be doubly hard this time of year.
Jesus came to this earth in order to defeat death and sadness once and for all. Thanks to His sacrifice, we now have a promise of eternal life of joy by His side when we leave this world. In the meantime He has promised to give us rest when faced with the burdens of the world if we will only let Him.
This is something to celebrate and to be thankful for! Make time this holiday season to worship. In fact I hope that you will join me and make this the centerpiece of your celebration this year. I hope that you will also join me in making a New year’s resolution to stay more focused on the Lord, to love Him, and to serve Him and to obey His commandments as best we can next year. Our burdens on this earth are only temporary thanks to His loving grace. Merry Christmas Jesus and thank You for everything You have done for us!
