Need help?

I was reading a very interesting article the other day about happiness.
The article stated that happiest people in the world share the same trait of having lots of friends. Another factor the happiest people shared was a spiritual relationship with God. Do you have many friends?
Any friends? The Bible states that in order to have friends, one must be friendly themselves. I went to a party the other day and it was interesting observing the interaction of those in attendance. I once heard that if you go to a party and do not have a good time, then you have no one to blame but yourself. This is very true, because you can choose to sit in a corner by yourself, or you can circulate and network your way around the room. I saw both examples. Those circulating looked like they were enjoying the moment more.

One of my New Year’s resolutions this year that is high on the list is to cultivate lots of new friends in my new home Jacksonville. The perfect place to start is in church. My wife and I intend to sign up for Sunday School class as soon as we can. I’m sure we will meet many potential lifelong friends. I also intend to join a fishing club and possibly help out the Republicans to re-elect George Bush. All of this will result in finding new friends.

At some point in life we all need help. Who better to help out than a friend? OK scrooge, you are a diehard introvert and do not want any friends. In your mind they always want something and you do not want to be bothered. You don’t want any help and you do not want to offer any help. At least sign up with Jesus, because whether or not you think you need help or not, you need help! The Bible states that there can be no better friend than someone who would be willing to lay down His life for you. That is exactly what Jesus did for you and for me and that is why Jesus is the best friend that anyone could ever have.
