Recently Imoved to another city. I did not know anyone there when I moved there, but I do now. The first thing I did when I moved was to find a church and start getting involved. Attending Sunday school was great. I changed classes one time and I am glad that I did because my new class is much better for me. Although I met some super nice people in the old class, the new class seems a better fit for me with more people with my same interests, etc.. Our teacher has a tremendous knowledge of the Bible and is a super nice person. There are a great bunch of guys in there who love the Lord. I have already begun to see some of these people on a social basis and it makes for a great new beginning in our new home.

The Bible has much to say about making friends. It states in Proverbs that in order to have friends one must be friendly themselves. If you have not developed many friends, this might be your answer. We live in a fast based society and it is difficult to find time for work, family and cultivating friendships; indeed I was so wrapped up in my career that earlier in life I simply refused to make much time for this aspect of my life. But as always the Bible is the perfect “global guidance system” for our lives. The medical profession has stated that those who have many friends live longer, happier lives than those who do not.I can personally attest to the fact that it is much nicer to have friends with whom to interact daily. It is in “everyone’s” best interest to make this a very high priority.

The Bible also has much to say about the type of friends that we cultivate. They should be Godly people who share a common belief in Jesus Christ. Our Sunday school class collectively prays for one another concerning problems in our lives, trying to lead others to the Lord, and a variety of other things. We also study God’s word together and discuss what each passagemeans, how current events relate to Biblical prophecy, and how we can use God’s word to improve our daily lives and those around us. This is a great way to prepare ourselves for the upcomingweek.

Bottom line is that I highly recommend cultivating a wide group of friends and the best place to start that process is in Sunday School, not in a local sports bar.You may not know where to go and it will seem a little awkward the first day, but they will welcome you with open arms and be happy to personally escort you where you need to go.If you do not feel that the first class you attend is the right class for you, then do as I did, and change. God will lead you to a place where you will find peace and happiness. Remember that most importantly GOD wants you to have plenty of Godly friends. Why? Because Godly friends area good thing for His children, andHe loves us and and wants us to have happy lives and there is no greater friend than He….

Confess your trespasses to one
another and pray for one another,
that you may be healed. The effective
fervent prayer of a righteous
man avails much.

How well do you know the Bible?
The Bible teaches that if someone, “Wanders from the truth and someone turns him back”; he who turns this sinner from the error of his wayswill not only “save a soul from death”, but …What???
James 5:20
