I hope everyone had a happy fourth of July. My son and his family drove down for a visit. He and I went fishing in the morning and then cooked barbeque ribs and a Boston butt for a nice barbeque dinner complete with potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, and strawberry shortcake. Last night it was fireworks galore. I live on the St. Lucie River and from our vantage point we could view multiple fireworks displays for miles around.
They were magnificent; however, the photo below shows that God is never to be outdone as NASA revealed a celestial fireworks show of new stars being born in God’s ever-expanding Universe. Upon viewing them this morning I was reminded of something our pastor said in church not long ago. He was talking about an elderly lady that the doctors had only given a few weeks to live. 17 years later she is still very much alive. She was asked about it and she said she felt like she had been living on the banks of the Jordan River all those years and could smell the wonderful fragrance. Coming from the other side.
Her allusion to the wonders that await us in heaven regarding the fragrance of flowers combined with the photos coming from NASA are just a taste. Just imagine heaven for a moment and if you are down today, it should pick you right back up. God created us to live forever; that means there is no such thing as death. Right across the river of death lies sensations and beauty we can only dream about that we will enjoy for eternity. I view it with great anticipation.
