There are too many in our society that maintain that the end justifies the means. If you must tell a lie and/or otherwise deceive someone to achieve your desired results, then go for it. Such short sighted methods are doomed to failure. I am currently writing a book and one chapter contains my views on what it takes to become successful. There are many ingredients, but one essential ingredient for success is integrity. Any gains gotten from deceit and dishonesty will be short-lived. I say that with authority because the unerring Word of God tells us that in unequivocal terms.
A reputation for honesty and integrity is of greater value than business acumen, looks, and charm all put together. Integrity means that you do not steal. Do you think that is too elementary to discuss? Consider surfing the Net when you are supposed to be working, making personal long distance calls on an employers dime, calling in sick when you really just want a day off, padding an expense account, taking home supplies from work for your home. A recent Chamber of Commerce survey revealed that an unbelievable number of employees admit to stealing from their employers 75%! One out of three business failures are the result of stealing in this great country.
Integrity means that you do not lie. This does not just apply to outright lies, consider shifting the blame to others when confronted with a mistake made by you, or how about taking credit for something that someone else actually did, or an idea that someone else had? The problem with lying is once you are caught in one, no one can believe you from that point on. One always wonders if this time it is truth.
It is my belief that having a solid reputation for honesty and integrity is elementary to accumulating lasting wealth. Yes some unscrupulous characters have accumulated material wealth and riches in this short vapor life, but where will they be in 200 years? Not one Rolex watch ever made it into heaven, but integrity abounds there. Hell has no Rolex watches, Porsches, big homes, boats, planes, gold coins, or fur coats. It simply contains tormented souls who dearly wish that they had spent their time following Jesus and His commands, and had refrained from spending their precious time in this world trying to attain temporary pleasures and riches utilizing any underhanded method that they could devise.
No matter what your current bank statement balance is, if you have accepted Jesus and follow His commands, if you are honest and you have integrity, then you are rich beyond measure. These are not the same as the worlds riches. Satan has lied and deceived the world and convinced it that the aforementioned material things are riches; they are not riches. The Bible asks us if we will set our eyes upon riches which are not!
Proverbs 23:4
Do not overwork to be rich;
Because of your own understanding, cease!
Will you set your eyes on that
which is not?
For riches certainly make
themselves wings;
They fly away like an eagle
toward heaven.
How well do you know the Bible?
How can we lend to the Lord and be assured of a payback?
Proverbs 19:17
