I had an exceedingly bad day yesterday. I not only had very serious problems to deal with all day long, I had bunches of them. It seems that trouble often comes in bunches. Perhaps when it comes all at once it is good as we can face it all simultaneously and just get it over with instead of stringing it out. Life is not always a bed of roses and one thing sure we will face trouble periodically throughout our lives. This concept is kind of like receiving a no in sales. No sales person ever wants to hear a no, but they understand that it is going to occur, because not even the best sales person wins every deal. The successful sales person is the one that will not get overly depressed when a NO descends upon them and will regard a no as one step closer to a yes and does not get bent out of shape by it. In fact it stimulates them to ask for the next order eagerly anticipating a yes.

It all makes sense but it still puts a knot in your stomach anyway. According to the Bible, adversity is a good thing. Lamenting the fact that it has descended upon us is fruitless. It is like getting mad because it rains. Rain is a good thing and in fact we need rain in order to survive and just because it descends upon and spoils our parade does not matter. Getting mad, discouraged, or depressed about it does absolutely no good. It will keep right on raining until it is time for the sun to appear. We face deep valleys and bright sunny peaks in this life and we must be strong and keep the faith through it all. After it subsides we will be better off for it. The bottom line is we should keep our heads up and look upward especially when in the valley. God wants us to rely on Him to lead us through the valley out of the darkness and into the light. We must do our part too however. I just try to spend my time finding and implementing solutions instead of crying about my situation. I find it is much more productive…albeit I wish my mommy were still alive to comfort me…

1 Cor. 16:13

Watch, stand fast in the faith,

be brave, be strong.

Let all that you do be done with

love.

How well do you know the Bible?

It is Jesus who comforts us during our afflictions. The Bible indicates that if we are partakers in affliction we will partake in what?

2 Cor. 3-7
