Destiny is determined by decision, not by chance. Unfortunately too few people realize this important axiom. We can decide to drift along like a butterfly from flower to flower floating with the breeze, or we can decide to follow a course like determined migrating geese flying like the wind towards their winter retreat. If you are not where you wish to be in your Christian life, it could be that you have not decided ahead of time to follow a determined course.
God stated that you cannot serve two masters, God and mammon. Many people do not know what mammon means. It is the personification of wealth and riches portrayed as a false God in the Bible and considered to be an evil and corrupt influence. The bottom line: we cannot worship money and the things it can buy and worship God. We must make a choice.
God must be the number one priority in our lives. This choice will determine our destiny not just for this life, but for the everlasting life to come.
Our decision to accept Christ and follow Him and concentrate on what he considers to be important vs. following the world and what it deems as being important determines our ultimate destiny. Christ told us that the riches of this world will be burned up. We do not take any of it with us; however the good works that we do on His behalf will last forever. Sounds like a no-brainer as to which way to go to me, but the decision is an individual one…
No one can serve two masters;
for either he will hate the one and
love the other, or else he will be loyal
to the one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and
mammon.
How well do you know the Bible?
There is a promise in the Bible concerning Jesus Christ that should persuade every believer not to pursue Mammon. What is it?
Phil. 4:19
