In just a few hours devastation struck. Tragic scenes are played over and over again as the world watches the horror unfold. It reminds me of the 911 attack. Suddenly people realize that we are vulnerable.
Everyone goes about their life enjoying the holidays and suddenly devastation strikes when we least expect it in a way not many ever anticipated. I can certainly relate since I live on a small island just three feet above sea level. A tsunami would wipe out most everything within hundreds of miles of my home and with one road in and one road out few could get out even with warning.
I always wonder if a major event such as just occurred has a deeper Biblical meaning such as a precursor to the end times, or is it a huge wake-up call telling us all that life is fragile and we need to make peace with God before time runs out, or perhaps it is both. The Bible tells us that as Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives He indicated that no one knows the exact time that He will return and the end will come, but that we could tell by the signs of the times. He went on to tell us some things to watch for such as there will be wars and rumors of wars, famines, pestilences, that there will be an unprecedented number of earthquakes and disasters. And that the gospel will be preached all over the world. Simultaneously false prophets of every description will greatly increase. “Lawlessness will abound and many will grow cold”.
(This prediction has terrorist with their slaughter of innocent men women and children in the name of a false prophet written all over it.)
Is this the beginning of the end? It certainly looks like it, and most of the pastors that I personally know think, as I do, that we are currently in the last days. The Bible tells us that we should not be troubled. We, (Christians), are kept in the nail scarred hands of Jesus Christ. If you are a Christian, you were bought at a great price and are very valuable to your Savior. Nothing can separate His love from you for all of eternity. If you are not a Christian, you have every right to be scared silly! It is easy to become a Christian and the Bible tells us that Jesus stands and waits for anyone to call upon Him.
He will forgive our sins no matter how bad they are. Jesus already paid for them with His blood and he patiently waits for each of us to call upon His name. Time is running out, however. Don’t be left behind, make 2005 the beginning of your salvation and eternal peace.
Matt. 24:13

shall be saved.
