My computer is toast and I’ve had a heck of a time coping with just a cell phone. Someone has said that technology is great, provided you can get it to work. The unsaid part is that when it doesn’t work it can be an aggravating nightmare. I’m sending it next day air to a friend to see of he can get it to work and if he cannot I suppose I’ll buy another and start over.
I’ve often wondered if technology is a curse or a blessing. It is used to spread vile and wicked and blasphemous communications all over the world and yet it educates billions and provides life-saving information such as medical , dangerous weather forecasts, and sermons by the best of the best pastors alive. I’ve come to the conclusion that it is both good and evil. It really depends upon how you use it. We can choose to go to a wicked site or a Bible study site and free will is the determining factor.
Free Will – Ugh – sometimes I wish I didn’t even have choices and just mindlessly toed the line throughout my life. But that is not the case and we must choose God and good over Satan and evil which comes in the form of temptation. It is guaranteed to be a daily battle.
I think the greatest possibility for the internet to do good is in spreading the Gospel quickly. I have always felt that the Great Commission, whereby all of the nations will hear the Gospel, will be accomplished in large part through the internet. Indeed many have heard the gospel preached and the encouraging message of eternal hope in trusting Jesus by accessing the web. Even this site provides Scripture and how to use it to guide you through life on a daily basis and many have benefitted from it. But one must choose that path.
One of my relatives was convinced that the moon landing was propaganda and filmed in a Hollywood studio. Actually he went to his grave believing that. Unfortunately there are plenty of lies on the Internet and we can become confused as to what to believe. His belief in a fake moon landing did not affect his salvation, but others may believe that we evolved through some slimy goo over billions of year and ignore Jesus until it is too late. I wonder who the writer is and how he or she explains where the goo was derived. Nonetheless many follow these people and are deceived.
My Bible study partner and I are almost through the Old Testament and when we finish we will proceed to study our way through the New Testament again. The truth lies therein and I encourage you to read it for yourself. Use the Internet to read commentary if you don’t understand, and study with someone else in a Bible study. Not all the answers that you seek will be readily available and sometimes we just have to assume that the subject was too deep for God to explain it to us because of our intellect or the time in history in which we find ourselves is not upon us, or maybe He just doesn’t feel like sharing it, but those few tough questions are minute compared to the primary message that is most important for your eternal peace, joy, and love. It is sufficient for our needs.
The Bible is God’s way of communicating with us. It has guided souls for thousands of years and as for me I wouldn’t want to live without it. Listen to the Spirit. If you are just getting started I would recommend that you begin with a living translation and start reading the New Testament. Take your time and listen to what God is telling you. Remember the Bible is alive and sharper than a two edged sword piercing your core. The Holy Spirit that resides in you will help you every step of the way. If you get hung up somewhere, research it and take your time. Pray and listen to what God has to say. Most of all understand that Jesus loves you and understands your weaknesses and has provided a way to overcome all sin. All things are possible if you only believe.
John 3:16
For whosoever believes in Me shall not perish but have everlasting life.
