Happy Thursday my friends. I hope today is the best day of your life.
My son deleted all of his social media apps about a month ago and this week deleted all of his news apps. He quit watching the news on television some time ago. I asked how he would know whether or not we were in a war. He just grinned and said I suppose someone will tell me.
Hmmm . . . The only social media app I have nowadays is Facebook and the only reason I don’t delete it is people are reached with Words for the Day using it. With that said I have seen that the overwhelming majority of my 5000+ friends and followers don’t receive it due to Facebook algorithms, and deleting it is under consideration.
I’m also thinking of joining my son and just deleting all news apps and be done with it. Most of what we read is lies told by biased people and practically everything is negative. Invariably it makes me really mad to read the news including Biden now appeasing the number one terrorist state sponsor worldwide, Iran, by lifting sanctions.
I am a proponent of Mick “Crocodile” Dundee’s approach in the movie when he was being grilled by a New York newspaper lady to tell her his thoughts on nuclear proliferation and other “earth shaking” issues. He told her he didn’t have one. She was aghast and told him that surely, he must have an opinion on it. His response was classic when he answered, “Who is going to hear it down here. It’s none of my business” He was in the middle of the Australian bush at the time. Terrific response and I can relate living down here in the Florida Keys! Who is going to hear my viewpoint or care to hear it?
Granted this might sound like the proverbial ostrich sticking its head in the sand, but when I think about it, I don’t see where I bring much of anything to the table in changing things globally or even nationwide. Most intelligent people realize what is going on in this country and with political hacks like Biden, Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer who have never worked a day in their lives making decisions as though they know what is best for us “little people.”
How can I stop the lying, corruption, greed, megalomania, perversion, etc. that is ruining our country and the world? I cannot. There are forces at work that far exceed my limited abilities. Ephesians 6:12 spells it out, For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Only God can defeat those monsters.
The Bible doesn’t just leave us hanging and the Lord does not want us to live in fear. He goes on in this chapter to offer a solution, Therefore take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand . . .
I was reading about King David in Psalms lamenting his sins that were so bad he was actually physically sick from the stress of guilt. He realized that his suffering was due to his sin and foolishness and not due to some “natural cause” out of his control. He sums it up nicely by stating, “And now Lord what do I wait for? My hope is in you.”
The sins of this nation got us where we are today. The best way I can find to contribute towards turning things around is to don the full armor of God and pray.
Like David, our only hope is in the Lord. But hey that is plenty good enough for me. I’m for focusing on building the kingdom and sharing the gospel with whomever I can. That is what Jesus did. We never saw Him going to Rome to rail against high taxes and the brutal Roman regime that ruled Israel with a fist of iron.
The Bible states we should first be fishers of men and that is what I desire to do more than anything in the world. I know the Lord will handle the rest including the spiritual warfare currently being waged with reckless abandon.
And when not fishing for lost souls, I’ll go fishing for actual fish with my son Jon or his brothers or some of my friends. I must admit that scenario beats listening to the negative blabbermouth talking heads saying woe is me.

Jon and I caught this beauty and many of his buddies just yesterday
Matt. 28:18
When they saw Him, they worshiped Him, but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit . . .
