November 9, 2020 – Click here to listen
2020 has been quite the bad year with Covid19, riots and looting, the disgusting election, fires in California and hurricanes galore. My beloved Dawgs even went down in flames to our arch rival Florida on Saturday. It has been a dismal year and it’s not over yet.
We just experienced a tropical storm coming through the Keys last night and as I walked outside to check on damage this morning, blue sky could be seen – Something we haven’t seen in a couple of weeks. It is breezy and nice outside today and after a few minutes of walking around, checking on my boat, and the condition of the house I came back inside – only to go right back outside again to get some more.
We have hurricane shutters up and it is dark and gloomy inside but bright and sunny outside. I’m hoping that 2021 is a better year in like fashion.
I cannot bear to read or watch the news to see the gloating. A friend of mine wrote this morning that he was amazed at how many people, many from his own church, have changed their hate of Trump to those who supported him. I responded that they hate half the population of this country then, most of whom hate them just as much. No shortage of hate in this country.
He said, that there are developing deep conflicts within the Democrat party itself and it will be interesting to see which side will come out on top. Will the communists take over? I have a tough time thinking about emails addressed to me as, “Dear Comrade Bob.”
What will Biden do the first time a black person is shot by a white cop and riots begin to rage? What about Covid? What about the economy and the national debt? North Korea, China, Iran, Russia, Somalia, Venezuela? These were never Trump problems and they remain and will have to be addressed by Biden. Personally I don’t think our nation will fare very well with an old man with early dementia leading this country with all of its complex problems surrounded by left wing nuts for advisors.
I believe that there was mega cheating by the Dems. If all legitimate votes were honestly counted, I don’t know if Trump would win or not. I doubt we will get a chance to find out. The impeachment hearings are nothing compared to the corruption of this latest coup. So those of you who voted for Biden, short a miracle of God, have got your chance and now you must embrace it.
I think the Holy Spirit was telling me something today in prompting me to go outside this gloomy shuttered up darkened house to enjoy the blue skies and cool breezy tropical day.
I have not watched the news or looked at any article aside from headlines and weather in quite some time. What’s the point? I’m much happier and far less nauseous not watching. Fishing, lobstering, kayaking, paddle boarding, and yes even playing dominoes with friends is far better than listening to the hate.
Hopefully like the tropical storm that just passed through, blue skies and sunny breezy days await us on the other side of the abyss that we have created. I don’t know about you, but I find that only when I draw close to God can I feel the warm light.
Attitude is what will make the difference in our lives as we move forward. And with that in mind here are a couple of attitude statements that should cheer you up some.
Each morning when I open my eyes, I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
– Groucho Marx
An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.
–Henry David Thoreau
Psalm 118:24
This is the day which the Lord hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.
